Running

If you are looking for a short and dynamic route, ideal for quick training or to get started in trail running, this route will surprise you.

Located in one of the most beautiful and unique places in Tenerife, the route crosses volcanic landscapes unique to the island. It is important to stay on the marked trails to preserve this fragile environment and respect the prohibition of climbing volcanoes. Remember to wear good shoes and clothing suitable for the weather, as well as water, snacks and a mobile phone to capture the impressive places you are going to pass. You can arrive by car or by bus with the 360 line from Icod de los Vinos, at the "Iglesia San Francisco" or "Arenas Negras" stop.

The route begins in the recreational area at 1240 meters, following the signs for PR 43 and bordering an area of picnic tables. You will ascend along a gentle forest track until you reach a path that takes you into a volcanic environment, gaining height as the terrain becomes increasingly arid and rocky.

The Route reaches its most spectacular point in an area of solidified lava, where you will run on black volcanic rock soil, with the silhouette of the Chinyero volcano to your right. After reaching the highest point, you begin to descend to an area of black sand without vegetation, before returning to the starting point, completing the circular experience. An unforgettable journey at every step.

Montaña Negra

Highlight • Volcano

View of the Montaña Negra volcano - also called Montaña del Estrecho (Volcán Garachico) - erupted in 1706. The eruption lasted nine days and caused extensive damage. The former port city of Garachico is located 8 kilometers as the crow flies from Montaña Negra. Two lava flows about 500 meters wide poured over the place. This was largely destroyed.
