Today we made a little detour to Austria (Scharnitz) in the middle of the Karwendel Nature Park. Parked for free at the train station in Scharnitz (7 euros at the information center) and then walked along the Isar right into this beautiful gorge. Although there is no admission charge, this gorge is not crowded and is a great alternative to the hot spots Partnachklamm and Leutaschklamm. After the gorge you go back along a panoramic mountain path and can end the tour in the rustic Scharnitzhütte or by the Isar.
Due to the event, we had to park the car at P4. Be sure to get a parking ticket there. Have the right coins (€ 4 for a day ticket) with you. Walking tour in this direction is recommended. At the end of the tour, stop by the Scharnitzer Alm and enjoy a Kaiserschmarren.
An incredibly beautiful round over the Isarsteig and through a largely untouched gorge. It goes back over the height with fabulously beautiful far-reaching views. A head for heights and sure-footedness should be there. Definitely stop off at the Scharnitz-Alm and eat a sausage salad and a Kaiserschmarn! Have fun! Today we went to Tyrol. Thank God my wife is fit again. We set off from the parking lot at the Nature Park Information Center, €7 day ticket. After buying the ticket, we set off, and there was a sign saying the Gleirschbach Gorge was closed due to rockfall. So we thought about it and replanned. We continued on the route until the closure, and then turned off. It was a great path to the waterfall, and then PLEASE DO NOT GO UP THE SLOPE LIKE WE DID, but take the trail on the left. That's the right path!!! Once at the top, we went up the forest path past cows that were standing in the path. The turnoff came slowly downhill, but we met hikers who told us it was doable through the gorge, but we just needed to be sure-footed. So off we went. I have to say it made up for everything. So many impressions, simply amazing. We learned in the gorge that the closure had been lifted two hours earlier. A first-class highlight.
Today we went to Scharnitz in Tyrol to the Gleirschklamm. We were lucky again in terms of weather: Sunny 22 degrees ☀️ only had to give way to clouds and a few raindrops ☁️ later in the afternoon - by then we were already done 😉 I actually wanted to write a lot more, but Komoot has once again managed to screw up the comment function, at least in the iOS version, to such an extent that it is not possible to work properly (I can't see my text, I'm basically writing blindly). So today I'll just let the pictures do the talking...
Route: Scharnitz Nature Park Information Center - Isarsteig - Nederweg - Gleirschhöhe - Scharnitz Nature Park Information Center Parking and public arrival: P2 "Karwendel car park Länd" By train to Scharnitz station (10 minutes walk to the starting point). You can find all connections in real time with the mobility app "wegfinder". Directions: From the Scharnitz nature park information center at the Länd car park (P2), follow the Hinterautal road into the valley for approx. 500 m. Turn right onto the Isarsteig. At the end of the Isarsteig straight ahead on the Nederweg. Follow this path past the Scharnitzer Alm to the entrance to the Gleirschklamm. Opposite the entrance, a trail branches off to the left, which is well marked and leads to the Gleirschhöhe. Keep left on the forest path out of the valley and hike back to the starting point. A very beautiful hike at this time of year, when the forest is changing color. I think it's also pleasantly cool along the gorge on hot summer days.
Closed last year, this year a great experience, the Gleirschklamm. It is relatively easy to hike over hill and dale on forest paths to the gorge. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are required through the gorge. Thundering masses of water await in the gorge. A fascinating natural spectacle in front of a picturesque mountain backdrop. On the way back, around every bend, autumn shows anew that it is the best painter. A great opening tour! PS The times given on the signs probably don't apply to flatlanders like me. I clearly exceeded the specified times 😀
