This route was planned by komoot.
This trail is generally considered easy to moderate. It's a circular route with mostly well-maintained paths, but sure-footedness is recommended. You'll encounter forest paths and gentle uphill sections as it winds through the alpine pasture area of the Stoderalm.
The most notable highlight is the "Gröbminger Blick" viewing bench, sometimes called the "Liebesbankerl Gröbminger Blick," which offers magnificent panoramic views down into the Gröbminger basin and the market town of Gröbming. Along the way, you can also enjoy views of the Stoderzinken, Kammspitze, and Grimming mountains. Other points of interest include the Rosemi Hut and the Steinerhaus mountain inn.
Yes, this trail is an accessible and scenic option, making it suitable for various fitness levels, including families and beginners. Its moderate difficulty and rewarding views without a strenuous climb make it a great choice for those new to hiking or looking for a relaxed outing.
The best time to hike the Stoderalm circular route is typically from late spring to early autumn when the trail is snow-free and the alpine pastures are green. This period offers the most pleasant weather and best visibility for enjoying the panoramic views. Always check local weather conditions before you go.
While the trail itself is generally dog-friendly, it's important to keep dogs on a leash, especially when passing through alpine pastures where livestock may be present. Always ensure your dog is under control and clean up after them.
No, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required to hike the Stoderalm circular route itself. The trail is located within the broader Schladming-Dachstein region, which is generally accessible without fees for hiking. However, always be mindful of local regulations and private property.
Specific parking information isn't detailed, but trails in this area typically have designated parking areas near the starting points, often at or near the Stoderalm or Stoderzinken area. Look for signs indicating hiker parking upon arrival.
Yes, the Stoderalm circular route intersects with several other paths. Sections of the trail overlap with the Wanderweg 675, Steirischer Landesrundwanderweg Alternative, and Stoderzinken Runde. It can also be conveniently combined with the Stoderzinken summit circular route for a longer excursion.
Yes, the route passes by the Rosemi Hut and the Steinerhaus mountain inn, which are excellent spots to stop for food and refreshments during your hike. It's always a good idea to check their opening hours in advance, especially outside of peak season.
For this moderate hike, we recommend packing essentials such as sturdy hiking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing (layers are always good), water, snacks, sun protection, and a small first-aid kit. Given the well-maintained paths, specialized equipment is not typically needed, but sure-footedness is still advised.
The Stoderzinken offers several options. We chose the Stoderzinken circular trail today, as we'd already been to the summit and to the Friedenskirche (Peace Church) (see my Stoderzinken and Friedenskapelle tour). The circular trail is no less spectacular, as there's a viewpoint to the Gröbminger Blick (10 minutes), which is worth visiting. The trail continues across alpine pastures and meadows. And if you're really lucky, you might even see marmots, like we did. 🤩 Where the descent goes, there's also a climb back up, of course, but you'll still have a fantastic panoramic view. And at the Stoderalm, you can round off the tour with a cheese dumpling soup.
Today a nice and easy tour in wonderful sunny weather. The drive up the Panaromastrasse by car was also a dream.
