Very nice tour, the tour was well marked, the information boards were ok, there were many benches in the most beautiful places.
Super nice tour through a varied natural area a bit north of the small town of Eggesin: The "Eggesiner See", which was formed from meltwater at the end of the last ice age, is no longer a lake, but a silted-up moor and is home to many rare plants and animals . From a lookout tower on the southern edge of the lake you have a great view over the nature reserve, but the rest of the marked circular hike is also very worthwhile. For example, the hike leads through an extensive alder quarry and old beech forest stands. There are some parking spaces at the starting point of the hike, but the tour can also be easily done from Eggesin train station. Don't forget mosquito spray in summer!
Beautiful hiking trails with well-preserved information boards (2024)
This morning we were surprised by the sun, which we hadn't seen for a long time... Our entertaining hike took us around the Eggesiner Lake, now more like the Eggsiner Moor. A very nature-oriented hike and a nice start to the new year. And who knew that Eggesin is nicknamed the Blueberry Town?
