Today I have no cave for you and for me 😊And the volcanoes have to wait, today I felt like sun and palm trees ... And that's exactly what is 30 km away Found a wonderful route on Lake Constance in Überlingen ... And could even hike in a top and rolled up pants 🤗. It went straight up to the beautiful orchards above Lake Constance ... I think I caught a vitamin shock today ... 🍏🍐🍎🍇 Everywhere you could pick something and "eat" directly 🤭💪 ... Again and again there were wonderful viewpoints of the lake along the way. There were even beautiful rocks in the woods, but the caves here were all barricaded🙄 .... There was also a ruin on the way and vineyards with sugar-sweet grapes ... Then after 12 km we went down to Lake Constance🤗 ... Take off your shoes and socks and take a cool foot bath, coffee and bread and butter brought new energy ...
Even after the Easter holidays, the weather is fantastic again. Today is a day without appointments and without exhaustion or pain. I quickly decide to pack my backpack to take advantage of these favorable conditions and hike a combination of familiar trails high above Lake Überlingen. The hiking parking lot at Haldenhof is free, but I have to accept that I won't reach the steepest climb of the tour until shortly before the end. However, since I have plenty of time and can take breaks if necessary, this seems entirely doable. Haldenhof is closed today, and the early morning time means I have the wonderful viewpoint all to myself. The view is clear today, and the fresh spring green and the blue of the lake and sky create a wonderful atmosphere. I simply can't get enough of these and many more views to follow on this tour. As always, I choose the highest trail on the way to Zimmerwiese. It runs along the edge of the slope and offers the most beautiful views of all three trails. A short detour to the geological high trail brings me to an interesting feature. Here, a layer of molasse rock and stone balms meet. Large stones hang from the ceiling of the eroded ledge, as if glued together in a giant dough. The trail leads me through a wonderfully spring-green forest, past numerous viewpoints, and then onto the sunny plateaus of the Zimmerwiese. I pass a pretty Easter fountain and the Sipplingen hiking hut. A children's adventure trail recently opened up here from Sipplingen; a charming marble run and balance beams are located along the trail. I cross a small valley and then climb slightly again until I reach the small road towards Nesselwangen. Here, the trail turns towards Hödinger Tobel and Hödingen. The ravine can be bypassed at its upper end. The direct ravine path towards Süßenmühle is permanently closed. As usual, I pay a quick visit to the pretty village church in Hödingen and then climb up to the Spetzgarter Höhe. Passing a beautiful, large linden tree, I reach the magnificent viewpoint above Spetzgart Castle. Several benches invite me to take a break. Now, a longer descent towards Goldbach lies ahead of me. Following a wonderful meadow path and through the densely wooded Spetzgarter Tobel, I reach the outskirts of Goldbach. This brings me quite close to the lake again and, in order to return towards Haldenhof, I have to climb again. Through vineyards, the Gletschermühle (Glacier Mill), and a beautiful hillside path, I reach the Fidelishöhe and find myself back at the height of Hödingen. My further route now leads me downhill again until I reach the Süßenmühle (Sweet Mill) and thus the lower exit of the Hödinger Tobel. Once again, I am on a sunny stretch of path that leads me with beautiful views of the wooded slopes and sunny meadows, where the dandelions shine bright yellow, all the way to the rock formations of the Churfirsten. Past the Sipplinger Burghalde, my path then climbs unmarked up the slope. After crossing the meadow, the trail becomes much more visible and leads me up through the forest until I reach the Zimmerwiese meadow again. I'm particularly looking forward to the next stretch of the trail. A narrow path gently ups and downs the slopes above Sipplingen. With alternating forests and meadows and ever-enchanting views, hiking couldn't be more enjoyable. In one meadow, I even spot the first orchids. When the beautiful path ends, I'm just above the upper edge of Sipplingen. Now the last few meters of elevation remain, which will lead me back to the Haldenhof farm. I turn onto the geological nature trail, which takes me on a steady climb past the Hohenfels ruins to the height of the Haldenhof farm and thus back to my hiking parking lot. Conclusion: A first-class panoramic tour!
The tour today had great views of Lake Constance. From Hödingen to Sipplingen we followed the "SeeGang", or rather we wanted to. Below Sipplinger Berg we weren't paying attention and were on the parallel path below. From Haldenhof we went down to Sipplingen. The upper part was quite steep and had stairs. Here we met two cyclists who were laboriously pushing their e-bikes up. Komoot would have said it was a bike path and according to the map it would only be 200 m 🤔 We would have liked to turn around again and see how the two of them completed the upper part of the path. 🤭 But we were happy that we didn't have to walk up the path. From Sipplingen we went back up to the Burghalde with beautiful viewpoints. Then continue to the Sipplinger Churfirsten, a curious sandstone formation.
A birthday present from February still had to be redeemed, namely a joint hike. For this, four women's schedules had to be accommodated. We were also able to toast as a new aunt, great aunt, great cousin and grandmother. Thank you, Martina🍾. And so we simply hoped that the weather gods would be kind today. And indeed it stayed dry on our round trip from Hödingen, which led back to the Haldenhof and past the Kurfürsten and the Fidelishöhe. The Hofcafe Vogler only opened in the evening today, and to our and other hikers' disappointment there was no cake in the afternoon because of the Hödinger Besenwirtschaften campaign this week. But we did get a cup of coffee. So strengthened, we set off on an additional round trip through the Spetzgarter Tobel.
Today we went from the Süßenmühle WP to the Sieben Churfirsten. Over the Burghalde up to the Haldenhof with EKS ☕️🍲. Continue to the Hödinger Tobel, Spetzgarter Tobel and over the Katharinenfels back to the WP. A nice round, lots of forest and gravel paths. Great to run. Almost always somehow a view of Lake Constance. We almost had the route to ourselves. There is only more going on at the Haldenhof, but you can also drive there by car and thus save yourself the climb 🚗😉. The Spetzgarter Tobel is the purest wild garlic paradise. Wild garlic in abundance 🌱
The basic tour was included in the Südkurier in May 2021 as Tour 5 Sipplingen. I ran it a little differently than described there, starting in Hödingen from the parking lot at the entrance to the village. First over the meadow up to the linden tree at Torkelbühl and on over Spetzgart Castle and the Spetgarter Tobel to Gletschermühle. From here continue on the edge of the break up to the Fidelish higher with great viewpoints of the lake. Then down towards Süßenmühle and then towards Sipplingen, here first to the Curfirsten and on over the Burghalde. From here on I stayed up as far as possible and didn't run down into the village. At the end of the village, the route meets again with the one printed in the map. We continue on the Otto-Hagg-Weg steeply up the mountain (after every serpentine a bench), above I have again chosen a variant that continues but very steeply up towards Künstberg and directly to Haldenhof, this piece is only with good shoes and hiking sticks to be recommended to experienced hikers. From Haldenhof it went over the geological nature trail up to Sipplinger Berg. From here on the normal route to Hödingen. During the entire tour there are always great viewpoints of the lake. For me it is one of the most beautiful around here. However, with approx. 16 km and 650 m ascent, it is not easy and also sometimes very steep.
I wish everyone a happy, healthy and peaceful 2023.
Very nice, but also sweaty tour through the forest, fruit tree plantations and along the fields in high summer temperatures. Main motif Lake Constance, logical!
