Hiking

From Baad, this easy circular hike leads to two gourmet huts, ideal for a cozy stop. The hut owners are happy to share their philosophy of alpine farming: where the fresh meat and milk products come from, why a close relationship with their producers is important to them, and what the Austrian "Gourmet Hut" designation means. All this with a view of the sensational mountain panorama of the upper Kleinwalsertal valley.

From the parking lot in Baad, hike over the bridge and follow the Bärguntbach stream into the Bärgunttal valley. After a short while, turn left – the Bärenkopf rock massif now lies before you. Soon after, you reach the Widdersteinalpe, where you can take your first break. Refreshed and rested, the gravel path then leads you along dense forest slopes to the exposed Bärgunthütte, the second rest stop. Here, you can indulge in homemade and regional dishes.

From the hut you hike along the Bärguntbach stream on stroller-friendly paths back to Baad.

Bärgunt Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Super alpine pasture with a great mountain backdrop. The hut owner Sabine always has an open ear for her guests and is happy to take the time to do so! Easily accessible from the Baad hiking car park via two paths (valley and high trail), also great for families with strollers. 🫶

From here you have a wonderful view of the more than 2,000 meters high Bärenkopf. If you have time, you should definitely plan the summit!

A nice short circular tour when it's too hot for longer tours in summer 😊
You follow the Bärguntbach uphill mostly through the forest. This makes it pleasantly cool. Once you get to the hut you have a beautiful panoramic view.
Despite the onslaught of hikers, the hut landlady Sabine took the time to have a short chat with the …

What a dreamy ending 😀.
After 2 days ⛷ there was a leisurely walk through a 👌🏼🤩 winter wonderland to the Bärgunthütte today with a blue sky, 🌞 sunshine and -10 degrees - via the Talweg and back via the Panoramaweg.

Driving home is difficult.

This time we went through the idyllic Bärgunttal in great weather.... 😉

To kick off our short break in Oberstdorf, we set off from Baad (Kleinwalsertal, Austria) to the Bärgunt Hut in perfect spring weather.
The icy trails made the climb difficult, but we were rewarded with beautiful views. Upon arrival at the Bärgunt Hut at an altitude of 1,408 meters, we were able to recharge our batteries for the icy return …

Beautiful hike along the Bärguntbach ... In mid-March, some of the paths were now a bit icy, but it was still easy to walk

Unfortunately we had to break off our hike towards Widderstein due to continuous rain. There were 3 porcini mushrooms for this ;-)
