Because the Nebelstein had been on my to-do list for so long, we drove from Upper Austria to Lower Austria today 😉 It was a very nice, varied tour. The view from the summit is great. Unfortunately, all refreshment opportunities were closed today.
After yesterday's borderland tour with the gravel bike, I'm treating myself to a regeneration day today in the form of a hike up the 1017 m high Nebelstein. Several paths lead to the top. I opted for the 11 km long adventure hiking trail starting from the Hirschenwies parking lot, where various educational info stations are located along the route. Although only about 400 meters of altitude need to be overcome, a magnificent 360-degree view awaits me at the summit. It's worth mentioning that there is a VIScope here, also called an adventure telescope, which not only shows the surroundings (rotatable 360 degrees) but also displays the names of places and the altitudes of mountains in the field of vision. The descent to the starting point is overall a bit more natural than the ascent, but it can be managed without any problems. A wonderful, easy hike that is highly recommended.
A beautiful, cozy hike in wonderful weather. Dreamlike and definitely recommended. Beautiful view and the Nebelsteinhütte is also excellent.
Today we had to quickly reschedule. Seven mountain witches signed up for the planned hike, and when we arrived at the meeting point, it was pouring with rain. Mountain witch @MarieAnne knew exactly what was going on and said, "The sun is shining in Harbach." So we decided to go for this hike. Just before Harbach, the sun was already shining, and we happily hiked along beautiful, leaf-lined, gently rising forest paths up to the Nebelstein. In between, however, we also had to conquer the completely unknown Sagstein to feed our peak hunter. After the photo session, we stopped at the Nebelstein Hut, which will be closed for the winter after this weekend. On the way back, we caught a light rain, but with our rain jackets in our backpacks, it wasn't a problem. Joining this lovely, leisurely hike today were: @Berghexe Christine , Doris, @Berghexe Heidi , @Margit H. , @MarieAnne , @Priska , and Brigitte
We relied on you to keep your fingers crossed and your positive thoughts about nice weather and hiked up the Nebelstein today in the sunshine. For the way back we chose a longer variant. Around km 7 it started to dribble. So we chose the shortest route back to the pension. Despite the rain, it was a beautiful hike with great views that I can only recommend to everyone.
The blue sky and the sunshine early in the morning prompted us to go up the Nebelstein again today. Right after breakfast we set off and were really lucky that it was sunny today when we arrived at the summit. After enjoying the all-round view, this time we continued in the direction of Sagberg. After it started to dribble again on the Sagberg and the weather forecast predicted heavy rain for the afternoon, we marched from the Sagberg in the direction of Waldhäuser and back to the hotel. The fact that it was raining on the way back didn't bother us much, the main thing for us was that we experienced the Nebelstein in the sunshine.
