This moderately difficult tour, with pleasantly steady climbs, leads from Flachau via Altenmarkt to Zauchensee, offering beautiful views.
The tour begins with the Enns Cycle Path to Altenmarkt. At the intersection in the center of Altenmarkt (in front of the church), turn right and follow the road for about three kilometers towards Zauchensee. After the campsite, just before the Hochbifangbahn valley station, turn right over the bridge and immediately left onto the gravel road.
The old Zauchensee road, which runs parallel to the paved road, is the highlight of this tour and popular with bikers and hikers alike. It leads with a moderate climb through beautiful nature to Zauchensee, the turnaround point of the tour.
In Zauchensee, there are several options for a relaxing break and enjoying the lake view. In summer, it's worth bringing your swimsuit and allowing some time for sunbathing and splashing around.
The same route returns you to the starting point in Flachau. Now the old Zauchstraße reveals its true character: the descent becomes truly fast. Please watch out for hikers and other cyclists – the road tempts you to put the pedal to the metal.
