This cycling tour is generally considered moderate. Some sections, particularly through the Veluwezoom National Park, may have rolling hills, but nothing too steep.
The Hanseatic tour Arnhem - Gelderland is estimated to take around 3 hours and 17 minutes of active cycling time. This duration is for the full 55 km route and can vary depending on your pace and how often you stop to explore the sights.

This tour is rich in history, connecting you with the legacy of the Hanseatic League. You'll cycle through areas that were once powerful trading centers, offering glimpses of medieval streets, old quays, and traditional Dutch villages. Arnhem itself, as the capital of Gelderland, also has significant historical sites, including those related to WWII.
The route offers diverse scenery and points of interest. You'll experience the tranquil riverine landscapes of the IJssel, cycle through woodlands and heathlands, and pass by specific highlights such as Het Zwarte Schaar, the Forest Cycle Path in Veluwe, and the scenic IJssel dike in Uiterwaarden IJssel.
The tour is enjoyable for much of the year, but late spring to early autumn (May to September) generally offers the most pleasant weather for cycling. If you want to see the spectacular heather fields in full bloom, August is an ideal time to visit the Veluwezoom National Park sections.

A great tour with lots of variety and beautiful moments.
A wonderful, very varied tour. From Doesburg we went, mostly through the Veluwe, towards Arnhem. Great play of light as the sun's rays penetrate the treetops! There are always clearings with a view of the heath. Then we pass Rosendael Castle. This alone is worth a day trip. Great gardens. But we've been here many times. So we headed to Arnhem for a piece of cake. The way back went along the Issel with the wonderful floodplain landscapes. Another small town, Reeden. Doesburg is the start and finish at the same time. An autumn tour to our taste!
