April 18, 2025, ❤️-Projekt Kinderhospiz stups, KM-Sammeln T17 // Zu den Schachten & Filzen

I woke up early...but not from the alarm clock, but from the rain...When I looked Stups straight in the eyes, he made it clear: There will be no mercy. The planned tour must be completed, because it is the only option if I remain in the Bavarian Forest. Well wrapped up, I set off with Stups at the Buchenau hiking car park. The climb begins steeply, and after a few minutes, the pouring rain seems like a monotonous meditation that takes over me. Soon, I'm immersed in billowing clouds that give the forest a mystical feel, and I find my pace, climbing ever steeper...until I reach another branch of the Goldsteig trail, which I follow from then on up to the Schachten...Once I reach the top, a panorama reminiscent of the High Fens awaits me on the plateau. I level my way over wooden walkways and marvel at the backdrop of the raised bog. As I descend again, I pass the Frauenau Dam at the end, before later passing Buchenau Castle and arriving back at the parking lot. Despite the adverse conditions, it was a fantastic tour, which is now one of my favorites here in the national park. What does the result tell me? Don't hesitate for long, just do it... Very strenuous, but a lot of fun... Today's kilometers also went towards my annual Heart Project, which benefits the children's hospice @stups_kinderzentrum: komoot.com/de-de/tour/2017733002 You can find the other kilometers and tours for the project in the Collection: https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/3336769/-herz-projekt-v-zugunsten-kinderhospiz-stups ‼️You haven't donated yet? Sooo, out and about with my wife again today... It's nicer with two people 🤩 The big Schachten round trip was still on our to-do list. So off to Buchenau and the almost habitual route to the Lindberger Schachten. Well, what can I say... the weather was fantastic today, the autumn colors were sensational and the fly agarics mentioned above were a feast for the eyes. For a normal Thursday, there was quite a lot going on today, but everyone had the same blissful hiking grin on their faces as we did. 😁 Another tour from the "shame it's over" category 😮

Today my husband actually (unbelievably) joined my hike instead of going to the golf course 😃😎👍

One of the most beautiful tours I have ever done.

Splendid. The weather, the landscape, the hike. Can only be recommended as long as the weather lasts.

Today we went on a beautiful hike near Buchenau. The tour took us along wonderful trails through the "Schachten" area. We were thrilled with this varied hike. We had a lot of fun walking the narrow paths and boardwalks. I definitely recommend this "dream trail" 👌🫶🥾🥾.

The circular route is very interesting in terms of the paths and nature. After a partly steep climb from Buchenau, after about 3km you come to a plateau, a moor, which, together with the surrounding forest, was previously used as a pasture for cattle. The name Schachten means Alpine pasture, and there are several following one after the other. Nowadays, some of them are preserved for landscape conservation purposes without being used as livestock pasture, while other parts are left to nature. As a result, extensive young beech groves have developed over the last few decades, which now have beautifully orange-red foliage in autumn. The raised moor is largely crossed via wooden footbridges, which are very slippery when wet. After the Lost Schachten, the last one on this path, the path winds gently downwards and turns into an old cart path, the paving of which can still be seen. This gradually turns into a forest path and from the dam into a street.

A beautiful loop in perfect weather. While there aren't many mountain panoramas on this tour, you'll explore landscapes rarely seen elsewhere. The Schachten (shafts) are an ancient landscape, dating back to earlier use. There's a worthwhile information board at each shaft. The boardwalk is also easy to walk, and you're surrounded by nature. At the Frauenau Dam, you can see how dramatically the water level has dropped. A noticeable feature at many dams this year. I would recommend doing the tour clockwise (as completed). The first few kilometers are once again very steep (average gradient of about 10%), but you can let the path ease off after the Schachten. ...
