Hidden Lakes Loop

Just five minutes by car from Whitehorse is a beautiful lake landscape with an extensive network of trails. On this Tour, you’ll hike between the picturesque Hidden Lakes through wooded areas of aspens and fragrant pines. You can tailor the length to suit, making it perfect for a family hike.

The route starts at the trailhead opposite the impressive Schwatka Lake. From here, it winds its way first past some small ponds, then across swamps to the Hidden Lakes. These larger lakes are vestiges of the last ice age, when depressions of various sizes were left behind and filled with water.

It’s worth climbing the exposed slopes at the edge of the path, as the elevated view offers a particularly beautiful perspective of the lakes. You might even spot a native squirrel or two. After around 4.5 kilometres (2.8 mi), you’ll return to the start point. This Tour is also just a stone's throw from the Trans Canada Trail, a network of trails that stretches across the whole of Canada.
