The Allgäu Hiking Trilogy: Stage 39 Scheidegg-Lindenberg is rated as moderate. It requires good physical condition, though it's generally accessible. You can expect to complete the hike in approximately 2 hours and 42 minutes, covering a distance of about 9.87 kilometers.
The trail offers a diverse landscape with varied surfaces. You'll walk on a mix of asphalt, unpaved paths, gravel, natural paths, hiking paths, footpaths, and roads. Expect to traverse forest paths, rolling hills, and meadows, characteristic of the 'Wasserläufer Route's' water realm scenery.
This stage is rich in natural beauty. You'll pass by the serene Waldsee Lindenberg and the Waldsee Moor Experience Trail. A highlight is the spectacular Scheidegger Waterfall I. There are also notable viewpoints offering a panoramic view of Scheidegg and the Alps, and vistas of the Allgäu countryside.
Specific parking information for the Scheidegg trailhead is not detailed, but Scheidegg is a well-known starting point for this stage. Look for designated parking areas within Scheidegg village, often near the main attractions or public facilities, which typically serve hikers.
Yes, the trail is generally dog-friendly. However, as with any hike, it's advisable to keep your dog on a leash, especially when passing through populated areas, near wildlife, or on shared paths. Be mindful of other hikers and local regulations.
The trail passes through Europaschutzgebiet Rohrach, a protected area. Generally, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required for hiking on designated trails within such areas. However, it's crucial to respect nature, stay on marked paths, and adhere to any local conservation rules to protect the sensitive ecosystem.
The best time to hike this stage is typically from late spring to early autumn (May to October). During these months, the weather is generally pleasant, and the natural features, especially the 'water realm' scenery and lush vegetation, are at their most vibrant. Be prepared for varying conditions, as the region can experience rain.
Yes, this stage is part of the larger Allgäu Hiking Trilogy and specifically the 'Wasserläufer Route'. It also intersects with other official trails, including sections of the Wandertrilogie Etappe 39 Scheidegg-Lindenberg, the Bayerisch-Schwäbischer Jakobsweg MM-LI, and the North South Trail, Section Friedrichshafen - Weiler im Allgäu. You'll also find parts of the Waldsee Rundwanderweg and Trim dich Pfad along the route.
Both Scheidegg and Lindenberg, the start and end points of this stage, offer various amenities including cafes, restaurants, and accommodation options. Along the trail itself, opportunities for refreshments might be limited, so it's best to plan your stops in the villages or carry sufficient supplies.
While rated as moderate, the trail is generally accessible and can be suitable for families with active children or beginners with a good basic fitness level. The diverse terrain and points of interest like the Scheidegger Waterfall I and Waldsee Lindenberg offer engaging experiences. However, some sections may require sure-footedness.
This section, part of the 'Wasserläufer Route', is renowned for its 'water realm' scenery. You'll experience quiet streams, wild gorges, enchanted lakes, and impressive waterfalls. The route beautifully illustrates how water has shaped the Allgäu landscape over millions of years, creating a rich biodiversity that can sometimes evoke a 'rainforest feeling' due to its lush, wild nature.
A very nice, peaceful tour 😃👍 It was a lot of fun 😃🌞🐕
A very beautiful and varied round with great views
Parking is 1€ per hour. Entrance fee for the Scheidegger Waterfalls is 4.50€ or 3€ with the Allgäu Walser Card.
A foggy start to the day at the lake... so get out of here ☺️ So we went to the Allgäu 😍 today. As soon as we arrived in Bavaria 😇🤣 the sun came out 🌞 Parking at the lake is subject to a fee. There is always a great view of the mountains🏔🏔, even Lake Constance🌊, if it isn't foggy, you can see it ☺️ The forest area 🌲🌲🌳 on the last few kilometers (approx. 2) is fantastically beautiful 😍😍 a fairytale forest 🤩🥰 The Scheidegger waterfalls are of course also worth seeing 😇😁 it is really beautifully laid out and there is a lot of geo-information. A route that you can definitely run more often🤗
We didn't park directly at the forest lake, but a little further ahead, where you can park for free. The Scheidingger Waterfalls charge an entrance fee. Particularly suitable for families with children.
