This route was planned by komoot.
This trail offers a highly diverse and dynamic landscape. You'll encounter extensive dunes, salt marshes (known locally as "schor"), winding creeks, wet dune valleys, flower-rich grasslands, and sandy beaches. The paths are often unpaved and can include old creek beds. The scenery is constantly changing, shaped by the sea and wind.
The Komoot route for the Kwade Hoek and Goeree Dunes Trail is approximately 12.3 km (7.6 miles) long. It typically takes around 3 hours and 6 minutes to complete, depending on your pace and how often you stop to enjoy the scenery.
Yes, dogs are generally allowed on the trails in the Kwade Hoek and Goeree Dunes area. However, it is crucial to keep them on a leash at all times to protect the sensitive wildlife and natural environment, especially during bird breeding seasons.
The trail can be enjoyed year-round, but each season offers a unique experience. Summer brings vibrant displays of orchids, rattle, and yellow iris in the wet valleys. In autumn, the salt marsh transforms into a striking deep red. Be aware that paths can be wet and muddy in autumn and winter, so sturdy, waterproof hiking shoes are highly recommended during these months.
No, there are generally no entrance fees or permits required to access the trails within the Duinen van Goeree area, which is part of the National Park NLDelta. It is freely accessible for hikers to explore and enjoy its natural beauty.
The trail passes through several interesting spots. You'll experience the dynamic Dune Path, encounter a serene Pond in the Dunes of Goeree and Kwade Hoek, and walk near the Slufter Creek, Kwade Hoek. There's also a Beach Bar With Sea View where you can take a break.
The Kwade Hoek is an important bird area, so you can expect to see numerous waders, geese, and spoonbills. Birds of prey are also frequently spotted. The diverse flora, including sea lavender, sea aster, and various orchids, also adds to the natural beauty.
Specific parking information is not provided in the tour data, but the Kwade Hoek area typically has designated parking facilities near its main access points. It's advisable to check local maps or nature reserve websites for the most current parking options and trailhead locations before your visit.
Yes, this route shares sections with several other trails. You'll find it intersects with parts of the MTB Route Ouddorp, Nederlands Kustpad deel 1 - 07, Kwade Hoek (groen), Kwade Hoek (geel), and the EuroVelo 12 - North Sea Cycle Route - part Nederland west, among others.
Given the varied and often unpaved terrain, sturdy, waterproof hiking shoes are highly recommended, especially during wetter seasons. Layers of clothing are also advisable due to coastal weather changes. Don't forget water, snacks, and binoculars for birdwatching.
Yes, the Kwade Hoek area offers trails ranging from easy to moderate. While this Komoot tour is rated 'moderate', there are shorter, more accessible routes, such as 3 km (yellow) and 4 km (green) options, as well as longer, more challenging routes up to 20 km (blue) that require a good level of fitness.
Nice hike and if you want you can step out onto the beach.
Spring break-in-1-day. Get some fresh air at Ouddorp.
Worst trail I have hiked. However that's maybe only because of the experience I had, the last section was flooded and there was nowhere to go except through it so I got soaked my shoes ruined. If you planning to hike full route in spring you must wear knee long rubber boots. I had to cross about 5 pretty big ponds some where knee deep. Maybe in summer the situation is better. Basically you have to avoid last 3km or so of the trail.
Beautiful tour through the dunes and the Kwade Hoek National Park. After about 5 kilometers you can stop at the beach cafe "De Zeester". The soups and apple pie are delicious.
Today we walked a loop from Kwade Hoek through the Dunes of Goeree, towards the beach, and through Slufter Kwade Hoek back to our starting point. A beautiful walk, sunshine and a strong wind. A real breath of fresh air! The wide, rugged, and empty beach and the Slufter Kwade Hoek are especially worth it.
