Pure adventure awaits you in the Stillensteinklamm, which has been awarded the Upper Austrian hiking seal of quality. It starts from the hiking information point on the Danube bank. Here you will find parking spaces and bus stops nearby.

You hike through the town of Grein and soon reach the gorge entrance. Allow yourself enough time for the climb through the enchanted Stillensteinklamm gorge. You may be able to spot animals and other mythical creatures in the rocks. The highlight is at the point where the Gießenbach flows underground for a short distance.

Continuing through the forest and across meadows you reach the Aumühle inn, where you can stop for a bite to eat. Afterwards you can leisurely hike back to the starting point in Grein.

From Grein through the Stillenstein Gorge to the Aumühle. (Very good food) Via the Höhenweg back to Grein. A wonderful hike for all Mühlviertel fans.

Today I led another hike for the WV Wienerland. The destination was the Stillensteinklamm. It's a cool, wooded area for hot days. Combined with the high-altitude trail to Grein, it makes for a lovely loop, with plenty of beautiful viewpoints.

It's been a few years since I visited the Stillenstein Gorge, but today was the perfect day.

A beautifully landscaped hiking trail led us through the Gießenbach Gorge between the pretty town of Grein and St. Nikola an der Donau. We thoroughly enjoyed the climb through the gorge, which is also recommended in summer.
