Out and about with my son again today 🥰. We headed to the Ebbegebirge Mountains in the Sauerland, more specifically to the Jubachtalsperre Dam, where we wanted to hike one of the Volme Treasures (a total of 10 circular hikes along the Volme River). Besides the small and idyllic lake itself, another highlight was the observation tower on the Homert, the highest point of our tour today. The tower is open Sundays and public holidays from April to October and is run by the "Sauerland Mountain Association." So, nothing stands in the way of a relaxing break with a great view, coffee and cake, or optionally a bratwurst with a cold drink 😊. Overall, a beautiful, entertaining tour that's definitely worth treating yourself to 👍
That was one of the 9 Volmeschatz tours. Always after the "V". Only once was the sign on a tree where a small path led down to the left near the Jubachtalsperre and was easy to miss. Then at some point it was time to turn around..... It only went uphill from the Jubachtalsperre to Homert. Nice way mainly on wide forest roads.
From the Jubach to the Homert Tower. Unfortunately, it was closed since October 31st
A really nice tour! Very well signposted like all Volme treasures. Dam, forest and meadows as far as the eye can see. What more do you want? 🏞🥾🌞
Today we finally found the time again and were able to tick off a wonderful hike with equally nice weather in the Märkisch district, namely the VolmeSchatz dams - the South Seas (n) of the region. We started at the Herlinghausen hiking car park, right on the B54. The path is signposted with a white V on a turquoise background with white waves (but not continuously), alternatively you should look out for the signage A2. The path leads slightly uphill to the Jubachtalsperre (drinking water dam). Along the bank we go to the opposite side and there we leave the dam and go steadily uphill through the unfortunately only sparsely existing Sauerland forests. From a distance you can already see the intermediate destination, the 22m high Homertturm (539m above sea level). This is closed over the winter months and from 01.04. Only open on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is enough space here to take a break. Now it's slowly going downhill again, back to the Jubachtalsperre. Here and there you still have a few great views until you get back to the starting point via the dam wall. The paths are mostly gravel, which is due to the removal of the deforested forests.
Off to the Sauerland to the South Sea region, which got its name thanks to the many great dams. Not far from here is Lüdenscheid, where a visit to the Phänomenta is really worthwhile - a great physics museum for all ages 👌🏻You can easily plan 4-5 hours here without getting bored. You can try things out everywhere, touch things and experience the fascination of physics in a very well staged way.
