This route was planned by komoot.
It was actually 14 kilometers and 900 meters in altitude. I forgot to start Komoot at the beginning 🙄🤣
That was a fantastic hike today! We set off at 6:00 a.m. to avoid all the crowds. The path up to the reservoir is a toll road and costs €15.50 with a guest card. The tour starts at the reservoir and goes up to the Olpererhütte. The hut is on the Berliner Höhenweg and is part of the Munich/Venice route. It is of course in a fantastic location with a view of the reservoir and glacier, which is why there is of course a lot going on here. The reason for the crowds is a bridge next to the hut that became famous on Instagram. But if you get there early you can avoid all the Doldis. We then continued steadily along the slope through a lunar landscape towards the Friesenberghaus. Once there, the view of the reservoir opens up again. The hut is also in a great location. Now the descent to the reservoir followed over many stony steps. The paths always require attention otherwise there is a risk of twisting your ankle. When I got to the car park, I took a look at the dam. There are other leisure activities here such as climbing or flying fox. Unfortunately, komoot stopped at the end. There are still about 1.5 km to go. Challenging but brilliant route with a view of many 3000 mountains and a glacier.
Today we went to the Olperer Hütte. With the best hiking weather, the ascent was a bit difficult due to the crowds. Once at the top there was a little refreshment and a change of plan: Friesenberghaus as the next destination. Shortly behind the Olperer Hütte there is a suspension bridge: unfortunately a hotspot for all selfie hunters. After the suspension bridge it got quieter and there were only "real" hikers on the way - yay 😃 The path to the Friesenberghaus is suitable for hikers who are sure-footed-sometimes very narrow paths on the rock, through rivers or through scree avalanches-that took a toll on your strength. No stop in the Friesenberghaus but directly to the reservoir... A great and recommendable round. However, you should be there in time (parking spaces and arrival) and a toll is also due (14 euros in August 2022).
From Mayrhofen by car via the toll road to the Schlegeis reservoir, parking lot at the dam. Tour with a long climb to the first hut, the second climb is short and steep, then a beautiful panoramic path, rocky but easy to walk
We drove up to the P2 car park and from there straight up to the Olperer Hut. Then we crossed the suspension bridge (a well-known Insta photo spot... you should get there early, otherwise it gets crowded quickly 😅) and continued towards the Friesenberghaus. There were a few places where we had to walk on snow, which wasn't entirely safe but wasn't too bad 😅. We ate a delicious noodle soup at the Friesenberghaus and then went back down to the dam wall to regain our strength 😁 The weather was great 💪🏼
Heat in the valley (31 degrees), pleasant temperatures up to 2650hm (15 degrees) Today we started early and into the Zillertal.at Tirol - heart of the Alps and directly up to the Friesenberghaus, 2498m. We enjoyed the rest with incredibly good #spinach dumplings. Strengthened, we quickly went 250 meters higher over the Tiroler Höhenweg (Berliner Höhenweg) to descend to the Olpererhütte, where the #Kaiserschmarrn was already waiting. Just before the rain started, we were already back in the valley #wandernmachtglücklich Hiking in Tyrol #wandernintirol
If you don't want to wait an hour in line for the Instagram hotspot at the bridge at the Olperer Hut, you should start as early as possible. I set off at 6:40 a.m. and had to find someone to take my picture. 😉 The first stretch to the Olperer Hut is quite strenuous. However, I would recommend everyone to do the same route and decide at the top whether to go back or continue on to the Friesenberghaus. The stretch between Olperer Huts and Friesenberghaus isn't too demanding in terms of fitness, but you should be absolutely sure-footed and wear appropriate footwear. You can also spot plenty of marmots on this stretch (but they're difficult to photograph if you don't have a telephoto lens). In any case, a super beautiful, challenging tour.
Tour 49 from the Rother Hiking Guide Zillertal Today, after breakfast, we took a leisurely bus ride from Mayrhofen to the Schlegeis reservoir. The bus was quite full of passengers, probably because the area is quite beautiful. However, at the start of the tour, on the way to the Friesenberghaus, it was surprisingly quiet. The trail was also relatively easy, as it only gets quite steep towards the end. The walking time, including a break, was 2.5 hours, as indicated. After two delicious beers and a bowl of soup, we continued along the Berliner Höhenweg to the Olperer Hut, a very scenic and alpine section. A truly beautiful section, but I didn't quite manage to get there in two hours. The food and drinks at the Olperer Hut were also great. The remaining walking time to the second-to-last bus was just about right. It also started pouring with rain from Ginzling onwards. Overall, a very worthwhile circular tour with good public transport connections.
