Hiking
The hike begins in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse with a steep climb, which requires both patience and effort. The path climbs through the scrubland and offers breathtaking views of the vineyards below. At the top, an old ruined hut, built of dry stone, stands at the side of the path.
The hike continues on an easy and pleasant track, where the terrain becomes gentler. This segment of the route allows you to cross open spaces, dotted with beautifully restored bories, before heading back down towards the village.
Along the way, the imposing cliffs which overlook Fontaine-de-Vaucluse gradually reveal themselves. The landscape then becomes spectacular. As you approach the village, the murmur of the Sorgue recalls the presence of the river, fed by the famous chasm.
The route ends at the church of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, a medieval building where the legend of Saint-Véran, who is said to have slain a legendary monster, permeates the place. The statue-fountain dedicated to this saint on the church square ends this hike.
