Hiking
This hike starting from Cabrières-d’Avignon first leads to the Plague Wall. This dry stone wall was built in 1721 to protect Comtat Venaissin from the terrible epidemic. It extends over 27 kilometers, crossing the Monts du Vaucluse. A path runs along this imposing wall, dotted with semi-circular huts which once housed the guards.
After following the wall for a while, the route winds through the forest of Atlas cedars, introduced to the region in the 19th century. Despite the devastating fire of 1989, much of the forest survived. This cedar grove seduces with its majestic silver-tinted trees.
Returning towards Cabrières-d'Avignon, you can appreciate the charm of the village, dominated by its medieval castle, and discover the lower fountain and the wash house.
