Gorgier Castle

Highlight • Castle

The road leads to the castle from the west. The climb on the south side of the castle, which is mostly in the forest, takes you to the entrance on the east side. It's just beautiful how you can see the castle from afar and enjoy the view of the Alps.

Beautiful bridge over the Broye, without this bridge a long detour would have to be taken into account.

Today, finally, we're having another men's ride with Willi. We take the train to Neuenburg. From there, we start a loop around the lake. After a snack, we set off on our bikes and enjoy the pleasant temperatures. On the west side of the lake, we ride partly through vineyards or along the shore, where we occasionally have unobstructed views of the water. Later, the landscape is characterized by farmland, wooded areas, and small nature reserves. We actually wanted to cycle back to Freiburg and complete the loop, but there were no more bike spaces available. So we headed home from Ins. It was beautiful, a beautiful day of cycling!

Today I was out and about in French Switzerland again...... In beautiful but autumnal weather, I spontaneously decided to tackle the long-planned tour around Lake Neuchâtel😃.... Great route with beautiful viewpoints. In the warmer season, many small beaches invite you to swim🏊‍♂️ A successful end to the holiday😄 https://www.relive.cc/view/veqzQYPP5B6

Nothing complicated, just the fairly strong headwind and 2 punctures on the trails not made for road bikes with 23 tires.

Finally for the first time around the lake. A bike ride, not a photo tour and I wanted to be back by noon. It's clear which side of the lake is the more beautiful... our 🤩🚴‍♀️

You have to do it once. Conclusion: The side around Estavayer-le-Lac offers a lot more in terms of driving, distance and landscape (you can also drive all the way along the lake from La Sauge, I left that aside for once given the length of the tour and the nature of the path in this section, see other reports from me). It's a shame that the last section between Yvonand and Yverdon-les-Bains runs parallel to the main road. The separated bike path doesn't make things any better. There are many ways to get to the water along the way, but only use the official paths, you move almost exclusively in the nature reserve.🍀 After visiting the viewing platform, there is also the Center Pro Natura*. A visit alone would justify a trip and so today I left it behind and headed straight for Yverdon Beach. Lunch break and a nice meal. Well, what else can one say about the northern sea coast. There are of course many small, more or less hidden swimming opportunities and, depending on the route, it leads through pretty villages. Overall, unfortunately, you only drive on tar, sometimes even on the cantonal road (see my report "St. Aubin", the Bünzli). This means that you are repeatedly - actually mostly - taken away from the lake. Ultimately it ends with a crossing of Neuchâtel and I have already made myself clear about this! As mentioned at the beginning, you have to take the plunge once. Of course, you can also take a lot more time and visit this and that - including the castles, castles, vineyards, etc., but that doesn't really make the story of BICYCLING on the lake any better. Of course the view above the lake in the vines is also beautiful. But you can only get there because you are not allowed to use the existing paths directly on the lake (including - in the most extreme variant - a massive gate, you could almost call it a barricade). It's a shame, parts of the section will remain fondly remembered and will certainly be visited again, but a circumnavigation? Of course, if you only pay attention to the wattmeter, average speed and the like, you might be able to get comfortable with the circumnavigation. Then - in order to build up steam - you should choose a different route on the south bank of the lake, as you drive long stretches on natural tracks. 🚴 *Details about the Center Pro Natura: https://www.pronatura-champ-pittet.ch/de

Today I cycled around Lake Neuchâtel. A really nice tour with a great refreshment stop along the way! It's best to always follow the signs, otherwise your bike will look the same. 🙈😂
