This route was planned by komoot.
From Sappl on the main road and first to Döbriach and Radenthein. Then the increase began - initially from 600 to 1,140. Another 200 HM down to Kaning and then the real uphill began. First at 1,600 meters - a short flat section and then at 1,884 to the Millstätter Almhütte. Further down to the Schwaigerhütte with a stop for a drink. Then part 1 of the gorge trail and continue on a wide gravel road. We entered part 2 of the gorge trail a little later - for the time being we let it hiss quickly. Then a bit more of the gorge trail and on the road via Obermillstatt back to Sappl. Garmin said 1,731 vertical meters - Komot 1,600.
Today we go to the Alexander Hut. A tough driveway with about 1800 hm and 52km. The sun burns down hot and we always have to take short breaks for our non-eBikers. Roland seems to be at the end of his tether. We have to lift our bikes over a cow fence. I step into a fresh cow patty. Fortunately, there is a stream nearby where I can clean my shoes. Here my cycling shoes are proving their worth once again. At Sigi's, a herdsman who makes music with his accordion, we drink something and listen to his folk music We cannot stay very long because dark clouds warn us to continue. The last 200 m to the saddle, where it then only goes downhill. Short coffee break in the Alexanderhütte, whose cheese dairy burned down on Saturday. Now we let it run downhill and make it to the pension just before the rain. Unfortunately there is a complete blackout here.
@Mtbrat thanks for the recommendation 👍 I was a little faster despite the heat :)
Austria and MTB 🤮. Actually, I was looking forward to the 49er round recommended by Carinthia. Unfortunately, 95% of this is on asphalt. It would have been more fun with my GRVL. annoying endless asphalt driveways. Hardly any viewpoints. Huts only at the end of the tour. On the descent, the cars you share the path with are annoying. They sneak downhill and don't let anyone pass. Uphill they race and cut the curves. RECOMMENDATION: Be sure to drive the round in the opposite direction. It's more relaxed and beautiful
Today we went to Obermillstatt to the start of the Millstätter Almstrasse, which can be driven by car and toll to the Schwaiger Alm. There is a large car park and hikers have several places to stop for refreshments. Then on to the Millstätter Hütte and then just a short way up to the saddle, then we went down via Kaning and Radenthein back to the campsite. Super shady and highly recommended. 🥰
Described as MTB Tour 49, a lot of landscape, few tourists and quite legally passable. We actually wanted to ride the Nockalm road today, but it's Bikers Week, so we gave the Harley Davidson riders the asphalt and drove the Nocky Mountains from the quiet side.
Steep climb to the Millstätter Hütte and then a nice descent into the valley on the other side 🙂
Millstättersee/Panorama-Hütten-Nockbiketour via Millstättertörl -Hütten Tour leads from Millstatt via Tschierweg to Schwaigerhütte, then steeply up to Alexanderalm and Millstätter Alm. All three huts offer excellent cuisine and wonderful views of the mountains and lakes. Descent either on the same access road or alternatively, as recorded, continue to the Rieglalm pastures and via Rabatsch to Radenthein to the "Granatium" garnet mining museum. - Some sections along the tour are very steep and gravelly, but doable with a mountain bike. - Video https://www.relive.cc/view/vMv8pyNKAPv
