The Nat'Our Route 4 starts in Bivels, not far from Vianden, in a beautiful loop of the Our. From here it goes to the wooded hills around the village, so that you can enjoy great views of the Ourschleife and the opposite Falkenstein Castle.
The path continues to Niklosbierg, around the upper reservoir of the Vianden pumped storage plant. This impressive structure on the reservoir was built between 1954 and 1964 and is used to generate electricity.
The path then takes you downhill almost to Stolzemburg, where you can see the Scottish-style castle in the distance. Here the path crosses the Our.
Now he runs along the river and up the other side of the meander. Here, too, there are beautiful panoramic views of the river loop. Through the forest it goes back to the starting point in Bivels.

Start/Finish: L-Bivels, town center This fascinating tour combines warm nature and technology. You hike along the reservoir of one of the largest pumped-storage power plants in Europe. In Stolzenbourg, there is an old copper mine and the castle of the same name. The ruins of Falkenstein Castle (private property) are also worth admiring. Europe trip 🗺 / 🇱🇺🇩🇪🏞 https://www.naturwanderpark.eu/wanderwege/a-natour-route-4-ourtalschleife (incl. GPX file) Get a taste of home air: A tour through 2 countries! Own rating: 5 / 7⭐ Start / finish: free parking at the Bivels church (https://goo.gl/maps/Yuh1Ph5rfZF7xNd28) Tour Highlights: - Ruins of Castle Falkenstein - along the river Our - a lot of nature with partly adventurous paths - some nice views 🔭 Briefly summarized: - only ran into 2 couples - well signposted - There were always places to sit (full of moss!) 🪑 but unfortunately not where it was most beautiful... - Path condition: mostly forest, paved paths, meadow, gravel/gravel, some sand and unfortunately many meters of asphalt (incl. road) I don't have to walk again, because I actually understand something different by a "NaturWanderPark delux" trail. 🤨 At the beginning, the tour was still promising and was great fun, but unfortunately that went by very quickly: there were too many sections with too many meters of asphalt (including the road!). Also, who would come up with the idea that a path on & near the road is great? 😑 This affects the sections on the river from km 5.3 and 14. In addition, I would have wished for a few more highlights, because it got a bit monotonous in between. 🤷🏼♀️ Important: from km 11.2 there is a warning that you are not allowed to walk along the path due to current forestry work (instead of informing about this at the crossroads before!). 🙄 Of course I still went through because there was no work yesterday. Note: Unfortunately, you can't get to the ruins of Falkenstein Castle... 🏰
Great tour, which is best started early due to the morning fog. It's like a... fairytale
https://www.visit-eislek.lu/de/tour/naturwanderpark-delux-natour-route-4 Today's hike took us back to our starting point in Bivels. We started our hike on the Nat'Our Route No. 5 from this town 2-3 years ago. So we used familiar paths all the way up to Falkenstein Castle. From there, the paths diverged, and we ventured onto the nature trails. The name says it all on these routes. We walked on nature trails for 90% of the way and even had to climb over several fallen trees, as the trails are apparently only maintained in the summer. These fantastic sections make this hike a truly special adventure. We initially hiked along the Our River, making it a border hike, as the river separates Germany and Luxembourg. Despite the biting cold, we were able to observe three kingfishers and enjoy their distinctive calls. Ice floes adorned the surface of the Our when the sun didn't manage to peek through. With wonderful views and great photos in tow, we reached our starting point again. Unfortunately, the sun hid behind the clouds at the end, something we hadn't experienced for the past three days. As soon as the sun disappeared, it became bitterly cold, especially on the higher ground with its biting winds and patches still covered in snow. It was a truly beautiful hike, and finally, there was a place to stop for refreshments. There's a campsite with a bistro right in Bivels where you could grab a coffee. However, it's currently closed. Almost all the photos include sections of the Our River, and the paths directly along the river are an absolute highlight of this hike. These sunny trails really made our day. Have a great Monday, everyone! 🙋🏻♂️ Collection Luxembourg: https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/1818331/-luxemburg-mystische-schluchten-und-dichte-waelder
🌲 Our Valley Loop – Nature as it should be This loop has everything that defines real hiking for me: Forest paths, water, tranquility – and the feeling of truly being away. The Our River accompanies you, sometimes quietly, sometimes almost dramatically – and in between, the path opens up to beautiful views. I hiked the loop alone – to be with myself again. No network, no hustle and bustle, just step by step at my own pace. For me, one of the most authentic tours in the NaturWanderPark deluxe. Tip: If you prefer a quieter setting, start early in the morning – then the valley is all yours for a few hours. There aren't many benches, but there are plenty of good places to sit in the grass. Gear: Waterproof shoes are a must – it can get muddy in some places. As always, I have a hydration bladder, camera, and a small snack in my backpack. 👉 linktr.ee/rueger.dirk
Really beautiful! From view to view! A few tough climbs, but they are rewarded time and time again with a beautiful view!
Nice walk along the river Our. The first part of the hike is the most beautiful and then you are walking in Germany. The last part is less spectacular. At about 7 km the path stopped and we had to find the rest of the path ourselves. It is a bit of a climb but the path at the top can be found. I would rate this hike 7.5 whereby 10 is the best
