Today we went on a tour in the Wolfsschlucht and mostly on the Wolfsschlucht trail. Our hike was mostly on mountain and alpine paths. A high level of sure-footedness was required. We had a lot of beautiful impressions of the mountain world. We had our snack at the Mischegg summit cross. It was a good thing, because we only walked from Mischegg to the mountain restaurant "Hinterer Brandberg" in the rain. The mountain restaurant "Hinterer Brandberg" was unfortunately not open today, otherwise we would have warmed up and dried ourselves off. The descent from the Brandberg to the Wolfsschlucht was very steep. We went back to the starting point via the Wolfsschlucht. With the weather conditions today, it was a very demanding and beautiful tour with good impressions that required a lot of sure-footedness. 🍀🥰🙋♀️🙋🏼♂️
Beautiful hike through parts of the Thal Nature Park. The starting point of the hike is 100 meters below the Wolfsschlucht post bus stop on road 30 from Balsthal in the direction of Delémont (the bus runs every hour on Sundays, but there is also a small car park behind the bus stop on the valley side). Between high rock walls, the path leads up through the narrow, wildly romantic gorge with caves and washouts. Via Jura pastures to Tannmatt (refreshment stop), from there a short, steep ascent to the summit cross (with bench), from there down to Mieschegg (here in front of the forest, down the meadow on the right and not straight through the forest like we accidentally did). From there, turn right above the small road) to Hinter Brandberg (here again a place to stop for refreshments). From here it goes steeply downhill to Lochboden. Once you are out of the forest, there are several options: 1) turn right via Stierender to Welschenrohr and from there take the bus back. 2) straight down across the meadow, where then a small path leads down over the road until you meet the 478 and follow it to the left (it opens out about in the middle of the Wolfsschlucht 3) our way: at the edge of the forest to the left and after 500 m over the road down a path that meets the Wolfsschlucht shortly before the upper end.
The entrance to the gorge can be easily reached by post bus. Always follow the signs 484. Otherwise, park in Welschenrohr and walk the 2-3 kilometers to the gorge entrance. On the way, catering options in the "Oberen Tannmatt" (closed Monday/Tues/Wed) and "Hinter Brandberg" (if closed, small Schopf with self-service)
Cheers, hikers! Today I'm tackling the Wolfsschlucht gorge near Herbetswil. A beautiful gorge. Large, wide, and deep, beautifully vegetated. It's very steep at the beginning. There are some lovely places to stop for refreshments along the way. Cash or Twint is accepted. The landscape is typical of a low mountain range: hilly, with wild, romantic valleys. Simply beautiful to look at. A highly recommended tour that's certainly strenuous.
Beautiful hike. The ascent to the Bärenloch is very steep and requires some effort. It was very dry and therefore the path was very "sandy" and slippery...
Caution: The section to the Bärloch Cave is only recommended for experienced hikers with a head for heights and surefootedness on dry days. If you are not feeling 100% fit and confident, avoid this section at all costs!
