Today it worked without storming the Araburg 🥰. Sticks are recommended in the shade just before the castle, as there is still snow and it is a bit slippery. Unfortunately, the Burgstüberl only opens in April. Beautiful and relaxing hike
Hike from Kaumberg to the Araburg castle ruins, the highest castle ruins in Lower Austria at almost 800 m! The way there led us up to the ruins of the castle via the Via sacra pilgrimage route in bright sunshine 🌞 You can have a great lunch at the castle, there are also original Hungarian dishes, since the tenants are Hungarians. After lunch and a visit to the castle, we went back to Kaumberg via cycle path no. 42, unfortunately with a few rain showers 🌦🌧 All in all a great tour with always beautiful panoramic views ⛰🏞
Kaumberg is the westernmost municipality in the Triestingtal, just before thegerichtsberg, the watershed between Triestingtal and Gölsental. Here, on the border of the Vienna Woods and the foothills of the Alps, the hilly cultural landscape offers attractive and promising opportunities for hiking. The Arab castle was built in the 12th century. built and dated back to the 17th century. continually expanded. However, it was completely destroyed during the second Turkish siege in 1683 and has been in ruins ever since. You can climb the 27 m high keep and from there you have an excellent view that stretches all the way to Schneeberg. The Vienna Pilgrimage Route and the Via Sacra to Mariazell also pass here. A pleasure hike on such a dream day with excellent views!
It was pretty stormy today and looked like rain. Fortunately, the sun came through on the way back. The trees show themselves in the most beautiful autumn colors.
