August 8, 2023, Wochenbrunner Alm-Ellmauer Tor-Hintere Goinger Halt und zurück

"Short" but hard 😇 the last stretch before the summit cross is roped and partly free climbing... you should be free from giddiness and sure-footed 🙋

It was really exhausting, but you will be rewarded with beautiful nature and a great panorama.

Alpine route, so appropriate footwear is very important! ☝️ Arrival and return via hiking bus to/from Wochenbrunner Alm.

Hike from the Wochenbrunner Alm to the Hintere Goinger Halt and back again. A fantastically beautiful, but very strenuous tour in the Kaiser Mountains. We started at the Wochenbrunner Alm. The easy path continued to the Gaudeamus Hut. From there, we continued through mountain pines toward the Ellmauer Tor. After reaching the tree line, the path became scree-covered and steeper. It continued along the rocks, with a short section secured with ropes. Continue up the gully to the Ellmauer Tor. From there, you have a wonderful view of the Hintere Kaisertal valley. The path from the Ellmauer Tor to the Hintere Goinger Halt is partially secured with ropes, and there are also some easy climbing sections. A head for heights and surefootedness are essential. Even though the Hintere Goinger Halt is the easiest peak in the Kaiser Mountains that can be climbed without climbing equipment, alpine experience is required.

From the Wochenbrunner Alm via the Gaudeamus hut to the Ellmauer Tor (1,990 m), then climbed steeply up to the Hinterer Goinger Halt (2,195 m)! Then take the path back to the Gaudeamus hut, descend to the Wochenbrunner Alm via the hiking trail to avoid the crowds!

A leisurely hike in the Wilder Kaiser to the front and rear Karlspitze peaks in midsummer conditions. We started from the Wochenbrunner Alm towards the Gaudeamushütte, and from there hiked towards the Ellmauertor, which was still quite easy. From here (keeping left/before the Ellmauertor), the tour begins to become somewhat more challenging. A good sense of direction and surefootedness/a head for heights are required. While the trail is sparsely marked (alternating red and blue), it's easy to get lost or miss a turn (it happened to me on the descent). Then, as the name suggests (Wilder Kaiser 😅), it quickly becomes quite wild in the pathless, precipitous terrain. The ridge connecting the two peaks, on the other hand, is relatively easy and simply enjoyable... In conclusion, a great and worthwhile tour in the Kaiser.

Since a ledge that was secured with ropes made my knees weak, that was the END for me...annoys me.
