This route was planned by komoot.
I went on my 666 umpteenth tour together with RobertO (thanks again for your planning). Exactly the right conclusion to my previous Moselle hikes. Have fun looking at the photos and a great song from a great band. (relatively unknown in Germany, didn't know them either until I went to one of their concerts) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBGPpZ_6erw
Our tour started today in Sinzig, an independent town on the Middle Rhine in the Ahrweiler district in Rhineland-Palatinate. The Barbarossa Loop is a signposted circular hike. Since you go through a few towns on this round (Sinzig, Bad Bodendorf, Löhndorf and Westum), the route is quite asphalt-heavy in parts. However, the round also offers very nice far-reaching views and also shady sections through the forest. But you walk in the sun quite a lot, so you should think about wearing a hat when the weather is sunny. And we recommend taking food with you. We had no opportunity to stop off on the way, as unfortunately all the restaurants along the route were closed. We were only able to drink our long-awaited beer in Sinzig.
There are two Barbarossa Loops around Sinzig: the green and the blue. We hiked the blue loop today. The tour starts in Sinzig and first runs through Bad Bodendorf with its idyllic half-timbered houses. Continuing over the Mühlenberg, you reach the rose village of Löhndorf. The trail leads through open fields and past horse farms via Westum back to Sinzig. In Bad Bodendorf, you'll come across an interesting lost place – the historic thermal baths, which were unfortunately destroyed in the 2021 flood disaster. But they plan to restore them. That would be wonderful!!! https://ga.de/region/bad-mit-vergangenheit-bekommt-eine-zukunft_aid-119591521 https://www.sinzig.de/tourismus-und-veranstaltungen/thermalfreibad/
