A slightly shorter route, with a fantastic view of the Moselle.
To start our short trip to the Moselle... we took a dream path under our feet. With fantastic views of the Moselle. It was beautiful and a perfect landing. We had barely got in the car when a downpour started 🌦
The weather is nice, not too hot today; we want to do the loop from Rabenlay. The view is fantastic. Once at the top, you have a fantastic view of the Moselle. There's also a stamp at the hut; unfortunately, we don't have a hiking pass 😐. Then we continue along the narrow path, definitely not for the faint of heart 🫣, but we made it. Interesting hiking trail 🤗
https://www.traumpfade.info/pfad/traumpfaedchen/loefer-rabenlaypfad/ (GPX file included in the "interactive tour planner") Own rating: 6 / 7⭐ Start / finish: https://goo.gl/maps/uZk9s6vm6DGL2R8w7 or parking lot Löf sports field (free) Tour highlights: Alzbachpark, Moselle panoramas, views of the Ehrenburg and Thurant Castle Briefly summarized: - I didn't meet a soul - well signposted - There were seating at regular intervals - Path condition: forest, fields, meadow, gravel/gravel, paved paths, pure rocky ground and asphalt (no road, only crossings) 🤩 That's what I call a great round after work! Despite the shortness, the path was very varied and not only offered steep climbs, but also adventurous paths and great views of the Moselle valley 🔭 There is a deduction for the (relatively too many meters) asphalt and the traffic noise, but not quite as bad over this distance 😜 I have already walked parts of the route on the "Hatzenporter Laysteig" dream trail (https://www.komoot.de/tour/384283845)
The absolute highlight of this dream path is the passage between the Winzerhütte and the Rabenlay. It runs entirely along narrow paths on steep cliffs above the Moselle. Beautiful views and comfortable benches characterize this route. An absolutely recommendable tour, especially for children or advanced semesters, because the majority of the remaining path runs across fields and meadows and through great forests. 🙂🥾🏞🌞
https://www.wanderinstitut.de/premium-spazierwanderwege/wege/rheinland-pfalz/loefer-rabenlaypfad/ »Varied and promising. Exceptional landscape character. « The Löfer Rabenlaypfad can be described as quite challenging due to the many paths and natural sections, especially on the steep slope of the Moselle. In addition to good footwear, there should also be a certain degree of surefootedness. The grandiose views and deep views on the steep slope make the "short hiking trail" a real experience. Arrival by car: Along the B 416 to Löf - in Löf turn into the Bergweg / K 41 towards Münstermaifeld - after the railway bridge, turn sharply right into Nachtigallenweg - then left into the street "In der Alzbach" - continue to follow the signs for the sports field / car park (footpath to the start: 350 m). 50 ° 14'06.2 "N 7 ° 26'15.2" E https://www.traumpfade.info/pfad/traumpfaedchen/loefer-rabenlaypfad/ Directions: The Löfer Rabenlaypfad begins at the refuge in the Alzbachtal at the edge of the forest above Löf. The car park is only 350 m away at the sports field (access is marked). This dream path immediately shows that you definitely need a bit of stamina to enjoy the tour. Because shortly after the starting point you climb uphill next to the Alzbach. The Moselsteig Trail joins it briefly, but at the level of a water reservoir, it continues on its own again. A wooden staircase helps to overcome a steep step before the edge of the forest comes into view. Once there, the ascent is mastered for the time being. The logos point to the left and while hiking through extensive fields the view glides relaxed to the Moselle valley. After crossing a street you approach a forest area, here you come across the dream path “Hatzenporter Laysteig” for the first time. Both paths follow the edge of the forest to the left, but separate again shortly before the edge of the slope. The dream path turns to the right clearly down the valley, whereby surefootedness and sturdy shoes make sense. Finally, you come across a path in the middle of the dense hillside forest. A rustic atmosphere emerges when walking around a deeply cut side valley, then the vegetation opens up and a signpost unites the dream path, dream path and Moselsteig trail. Before continuing the tour to the left, you can take a leisurely break at the nearby winegrower's hut with a panorama of the Moselle. After the promising break, follow the path through the steep slope. Approaches to Hatzenport and the Johanniskirche are ignored, as the Rabenlay is already luring ahead! On the way there you need to be sure-footed again, but there are a few benches ready to take a breather and enjoy the wonderful views of the Moselle valley. After some ups and downs, you finally arrive at the Rabenlay with benches and a hut and are rewarded with a wonderful view. It is difficult to tear yourself away from this idyll and follow the lush hedges gently uphill. When the dream path turns left, the dream path Löfer Rabenlaypfad and the Moselsteig turn right with a view of the Ehrenburg to the nearby K41 and cross it. Shortly afterwards, the route descends to the right into the forest. After crossing it and descending significantly, the Moselsteig Trail leaves the dream path that follows the edge of the meadows. Every now and then you catch a glimpse of Thurant Castle on the other side of the Moselle, then the path dips into the forest again at a festival meadow. After a short passage of the path, you reach the starting point of the round again. From there it is only a few steps down to the right to the portal at the refuge.
Nice little hike with beautiful views of the Moselle valley on Hatzenport and Löf as well as the Ehrenburg. The tour begins with a quite strenuous climb. More information is available here: https://www.traumpfade.info/pfad/traumpfaedchen/loefer-rabenlaypfad/ On the "Traumpädchen" in the Rhein-Mosel-Eifel-Land" you can go on short tours between 3 and 7 kilometers in a maximum of two hours. So you can easily combine them with other activities.
Nice little tour with high recreational value! After being awake for over 24 hours on night duty, I felt really good again afterwards
