After a relaxing afternoon and a great concert in the always surprisingly beautiful city of Leuven, we tried out a tour tip from Visit Flanders: https://www.visitflanders.com/flandersfinestcycleroutes/cycling-around-leuven-meerdaal-route Our bikes could stay overnight with us in the hotel room, so we set off right after breakfast. The route is incredibly varied, alternating between fields 🌼, wooded areas 🌳, and beautiful Flemish architecture ⛪. Gradients of up to 9% were no mean feat, especially since gravel and cobblestones were not uncommon. But what real Flemish people can do... the two little ones had to tackle today too. 🚴🚴♀️ We fortified ourselves with coffee and chocolate cake at 'the shelter' in Oud Heverlee – a very nice place 😎☀️ We only took a shortcut on a very steep and gravelly climb. A great day in wonderful surroundings. Leuven is definitely a must-see, with its beautiful historic city center and relaxed, cosmopolitan, and international atmosphere.
