Fog again at home and perfect mountain weather. So I picked up my daughter from the bus in Bad Tölz and then we set off from Eben am Achensee. A nice, not so steep path for the first hour through sparse forest, with the first beautiful views, and always in the sun to the Astenau inn. From there sometimes steeper and rockier, always through mountain pines and with a great view to the Ebner Joch. Great view of the Rofan Mountains, Karwendel and across the Inn Valley to the main Alpine ridge. The icy wind - only up here - drove us down again soon. On the way down, a detour to the Kirchenspitz. Then a stop at the Astenau on the viewing terrace - bad service up there today, slow and then stupid comments on top of that. Back down at half past two, the sun disappeared behind the mountain again, winter is really bad in that respect. Great sunny hike with a lot of views.
The Ebner Joch, a special summit for me: its height reflects my year of birth😄
Parked at the hikers' car park in Eben for €8/day (it costs the same everywhere around Lake Achensee). This time I was inspired by the tour and the video from @Andy Radl Wadl. A truly magnificent and snow-free tour at almost 2000 m. Perfect for spring. In summer, the ascent in the blazing sun through the mountain pine field could be very strenuous. On the descent, I wanted to traverse the H-Huber-Steig trail over to the Buchauer Alm, but after a few hundred meters, the trail was heavily icy and covered in snow. I had crampons with me, but in 20 degrees Celsius I was not in the mood for snow and ice. So I decided to return the same way and visit the magnificent Notburga Church in Eben.
A really great hike for anyone who is sure-footed and likes to walk/crawl on rocky and winding paths. Best in good weather, otherwise it's too slippery.... For me, my most beautiful route this year
Today, on the way back to Innsbruck, we went up the Ebner Joch (for once, not at sunrise and not alone). A nice short hike with great views of the Rofan Mountains, Lake Achensee, the Inn Valley, and much more. We were still the first to reach the summit, but on the way down, we did encounter a few people, which isn't surprising. It's a more popular destination near Lake Achensee.
