This moderate loop hike typically takes around 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete, allowing for stops to enjoy the views.
The Sunnseit'n Weg Loop is considered a moderate hike, making it suitable for most hikers, including active families. While generally well-maintained, it's not suitable for strollers due to some ascending passages and varied terrain. Kids will particularly enjoy the initial stretch which connects with the Baumhausweg, featuring treehouses and playgrounds.
The trail offers a diverse mix of terrain. You'll encounter wide forest paths, well-groomed gravel sections, and parts that wind through forested areas or open up to sloping meadows. There are also some asphalted sections, especially closer to the Schlick 2000 valley station. Sturdy shoes are recommended for comfort and stability.
You'll be treated to continuous panoramic views of the Stubai Valley and the surrounding Stubai Alps. Key highlights include the spectacular Sonnenweg Suspension Bridge, which hangs 50 meters above the ground, and the Pfurtschell Viewing Platform. Don't miss the View of the Stubai Valley and Glacier, and keep an eye out for other scenic nature sites like Gschmitz and Neustiftblick.
A common starting point for the loop is from the Bachertal parking lot in Neustift. This provides convenient access to the trailhead. The trail is generally well-connected and accessible from various points in the valley.
Yes, the trail is generally dog-friendly. However, please ensure your dog is kept on a leash, especially in agricultural areas, near livestock, and around other hikers. Always remember to pack out any waste.
The Sunnseit'n Weg Loop is beautiful in spring, summer, and autumn. As its name suggests, it's often sun-blessed, making it enjoyable during most daylight hours. For the best weather and clear views, late spring through early autumn is ideal. Winter hiking might be possible on certain sections, but conditions can vary, and some parts might be icy or snow-covered.
No, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required to hike the Sunnseit'n Weg Loop. It is freely accessible to the public.
Yes, you can find dining options along the way. The Berggasthof Vergör is a popular spot where you can stop for refreshments and a meal, enjoying the local hospitality and views.
Yes, the route also passes through sections of the Sunnseit'n Weg, Radroute 19 "Stubai Radweg", and Sonnenweg. In its initial stretch, it also connects with the Baumhausweg, which is particularly appealing for families.
Given the moderate difficulty and varied terrain, we recommend bringing sturdy hiking shoes, water, snacks, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), and layers of clothing as weather can change. Don't forget your camera for the stunning panoramic views!
Beautiful circular walk on the sunny slope. The highlight is the suspension bridge
A beautiful walk, even across farmyards. No mountain pastures along the way for refreshments.
A very beautiful tour, but be careful: the initially paved path is deceptive; it becomes rockier and even steeper. Only for experienced hikers. Otherwise, the view should leave nothing to be desired. For me, it was a beautiful route with great impressions.
On our last day, we wanted to take it easy and opted for the much-advertised Sunnseitn Trail in Neustift. Well, we didn't really enjoy it. Sure, the views and the panorama are beautiful, and the suspension bridge is quite nice. But that's about it. The trail is mostly on asphalt and gravel forest roads. So, we ticked it off as a nice little exercise loop. 🤷🏻♀️
After climbing the Elfer last year, marveling at the Grawa Waterfall and visiting the Stubai Glacier in the summer, it was now time to inspect the suspension bridge, which will be completed in 2024.
Unfortunately, cycling is not allowed on the Sonnenweg.
Since the weather is too unstable for a real mountain tour today, a short, refreshing morning walk was planned. Also included was the suspension bridge, the new Stubai highlight. It was beautiful 🥾☁️👌🙂
A leisurely round trip, unfortunately in our case without sun. 🌞 But it didn't spoil the hiking experience! 🥾Motto of the day: There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing!
