The terrain on this tour is quite varied. You'll encounter paved sections, unpaved paths, gravel, and natural trails. A significant part involves a narrow, winding path that ascends the slope, which can be challenging. Sturdy shoes and sure-footedness are recommended, especially on these sections.
This hike is considered of moderate difficulty. While some parts are easily accessible, the challenging climb with switchbacks requires good fitness and sure-footedness. It might be suitable for active families with older children who have some hiking experience, but it's not ideal for absolute beginners or very young children.
The tour offers several captivating sights. You'll experience the dramatic Karwendel Gorge itself, with its impressive rock formations and roaring waterfalls. There are also excellent viewpoints such as the View into the Karwendel Gorge, the View of the Isar, and a Magnificent view of the Karwendel and the Isar. With this great weather we went to the Karwendel Mountains. Via the Plattsteig and Birzelweg up to the Birzel Chapel. Later via Alpina to the junction of the Karwendel gorge. Here we had a fantastic view of the Karwendelbach flowing deep below us, which has dug its way into the rock for thousands of years. In the Scharnitzer Alm we enjoyed a cool 🍺 and a warm cheesecake with raspberries. Via the Isarsteig it went back to the 🚗 A wonderful tour on narrow and light forest paths
