Hiking

On this ridge route, we offer you a volcanic landscape with rocks of surprising shapes and colours. The climb to the summit includes some simple climbing sections, which can be tackled with light and comfortable equipment, paying attention in case of rain.

After leaving the car park, the day begins on a dirt road that runs alongside the Riu Bidda Atzei, then climbs up to the crest. From here, a wider path leads you up to the rock face. Along the route, the stations of the cross lead towards the summit of Monte Arcuentu, at 781 metres. The mountain, with its arched top from which it takes its name, resembles a Dolomite tower if you look at it from the beaches of Piscinas and Scivu. This majestic mountain extends eight kilometers in length parallel to the wild and wonderful beaches of the Costa Verde.

After enjoying the view, the walk briefly follows the same route, then skirting the panoramic western walls until reaching Monte Arcuenteddu, the 'younger brother', which rises to 603 metres.

The track then descends to a wide saddle, from where you can choose different paths. If you want to extend the adventure, you can continue along the ridge towards new views, while if you prefer to end here you can go down towards the provincial road. Once you reach the asphalt, a short 700 meter walk takes you back to the starting point.

Summit of Monte Arcuentu

Highlight • Summit

Mount Arcuentu takes its name from the arched shape of the peak which, seen from Piscinas and Scivu, resembles a Dolomite tower. The imposing mountain extends for eight kilometers parallel to the wild and beautiful beaches of the Costa Verde.

On the top, among the dense woods, there are the remains of ancient buildings where Fra Nazareno da Pula, a Capuchin friar known for his alleged miraculous healings, lived in 1982.

From this point, a breathtaking view opens up over hills and valleys, made even more special by the rock formations that rise like natural towers, similar to skyscrapers.

Mount Arcuenteddu

Highlight • Summit

The thin ridge of Mount Arcuenteddu, 603 meters high, is less famous than nearby Arcuentu, but just as fascinating. Already from Mount Arcuentu you can admire this spire. The Sardinian name "Acuentu" means "Arch or door of the wind," while "Arcuenteddu" indicates a smaller arch, thanks to the ending "eddu".

The path up is clearly visible and easy to follow. Unfortunately, the path down isn't immediately obvious, and you end up wandering around with your phone in front of you, trying to stay close or on the path. It's a bit adventurous but beautiful, with challenging trails and a fantastic view. From the top, you can see for yourself what …

The Monte Arcuentu, a jagged rocky ridge of volcanic origin, whose striking profile can be seen from afar, was on the agenda today. At the start there were a few short drizzles, but according to the forecast they should have cleared up by midday and would make way for brilliant views. 😀
