Hiking
This scenic circular trail combines the wild beauty of the vineyards and forests with the rolling fields of the Maifeld Plateau, offering an unforgettable hiking experience.
You start at the sports park in Lehmen, from where the trail continues parallel to the village into a wooded nature trail above the Würzlay vineyards. Along alpine paths with numerous, sometimes longer, ascents and descents, you'll find some impressive viewpoints. From the larger viewing plateaus at the end of the trail and at the Ausoniusstein, you can enjoy fantastic views of the Moselle Valley during relaxing breaks before hiking through the Flachsbach Valley and the Ausoniusstein Nature Reserve.
The circular trail now takes you leisurely across the fields of the Maifeld before reaching the Hubertushöhe viewpoint and then returning to the starting point.
Pay attention to the signs during the hike and follow the Moselsteig Seitensprung logo, not the themed trail.

Comments
At the Ausoniussteinhütte, the path continues downhill to the right. The signage wasn't very clear. Therefore, the tour includes a small detour of 300m.

The section of the route with an alpine character is somewhat adventurous and very wild.

The three "alpine" kilometers are tough and strenuous, but certainly suitable for beginners. Proper footwear is required.
Overall, a nice loop with some highlights.
Maybe I'll do the route to Löf sometime.
Unfortunately, the benches and signs are not being maintained.

The decisive factor was that I had seen on the German Hiking Institute's website that there is a newly certified Moselsteig side jump: The Würzlaysteig - or at least part of the 11.3 km long route hike from Lehmen to Löf.
Years ago I integrated the entire Würzlaysteig into …
