Today @Katja13 and I made a little detour to Mehringer Schweiz. A really beautiful path that is perfect for experienced climbers. There are 2 really beautiful passages that go uphill on ropes that are very steep. The first begins about 2 km after the start above Riol with a great view of the Moselle and the second about 4 km before the end of the tour. Sturdy shoes are definitely recommended on this tour as there is a lot of rubble on these sections. After the end of the tour we had a little nightcap on the wine beach in Riol. A sunny autumn day couldn't end better. Thank you Katja for the very entertaining hours as always 💚🍀🙏
Beautiful area...beautiful, but also steep root passages, secured with a steel cable...recommended without question!
Some very challenging, steep sections. Great views of the Moselle Valley. The weather was fantastic; a bit chilly at the start, but the scrambling quickly warmed you up. There was quite a lot of activity on the via ferrata, but afterward, only a few other hikers continued on this route.
This morning I had to scratch. Lt. The display in the car showed it was 1 degree when I set off. The fingers were cold and it was foggy. But that went away quite quickly. The sun came out, the fog cleared away. A great tour today. However, it is also quite demanding in parts. I noticed that I had already walked some parts of it because they were parallel to the Moselsteig. But it's been long enough already. :-) I didn't go on the via ferrata (maybe next time - certainly interesting, albeit strenuous), but it was "crunchy" up there and later in the quarry anyway. Maybe you can see it halfway in the pictures.
Today - and that was overdue - I was out and about on the Moselsteig "Extratour Mehringer Schweiz". Luckily the weather is still relatively good, so from this afternoon onwards it doesn't look so good anymore. A tricky path, which comes up with a nasty incline, especially immediately after a good kilometer, if you start “normally”: at the Mehring sports field, counterclockwise. There is also a lot of scrambling towards the end, and in some places you are thankful for the holding ropes. 😊 Otherwise there is a lot along the Moselle and through vineyards, a Roman villa is also offered. In the vineyard right in front of me, a tractor rushed out of the vines and misted me with his sprayer. Time will tell if I'll languish from deadly contamination or survive. 😉 I immediately drank a first aid beer that I happened to have with me. 😄
Today I'm going on a hike that I planned almost a year ago: The extra tour Mehringer Switzerland, my conclusion 👍 A tour of the extra class that is versatile, varied and requires the hiker to be vigilant, while there are sections over hill and dale in addition to quiet forest paths and safety and fitness are required! That's why hikers go this route, it's worth it 🤩
A very varied tour. Numerous paths along the slate cliffs. Via ferratas, ridge hiking trails, a viewing tower, and vineyards. Wonderful😊
Today we went from Mehring through Mehring Switzerland with 2 small via ferratas. A very nice tour for sure-footed hikers who have no fear of heights. But here too there is dead wood and fallen trees everywhere on the paths. And unfortunately also a lot of rubbish 😩
