Sodele .... we were out under a different "label", instead of Saar-Hunsrück with the Traumschleifen, here Saar-Obermosel. An old saying of my father comes to mind: "Other mothers have beautiful daughters too" And what "mother" Mosel has created here with her detour for the hiker is not only incredibly beautiful and attractive but also absolutely extraordinary. We agree, this tour is by far the greatest of 2026 and it will be very difficult to top it... This round simply has everything a hiker's heart desires, narrow paths, beautiful trails, meadows and forests, a nature reserve. many views, a rich offer of resting places and, as a bonus, a castle ruin, sandstone formations, the Leuk-Bachttal and our wild-romantic highlight: The Ewigbachtälchen !!! In the original, the tour starts in Freudenburg and no matter in which direction you walk, at the end there are still good altitude meters to overcome. Our start from the bus stop Kollesleuken, on the other hand, led to a wonderfully relaxed distribution of the altitude profile with the Kollesleukener Schweiz at the end. Johann of Luxembourg, King of Bohemia (namesake of the round) began the castle construction around 1335, which he called "Freyding" (from this first became Freudenberg and then Freudenburg). The Freudenburg was part of a strategic belt of castles on the border of the Luxembourgish territory with Trier, where (of all people, his uncle), Baldwin of Luxembourg was Elector of Trier. This round is truly recommended !!!!!! 👍👍🌞🌳🌲🌸🌞👍👍🥾😊😍
The premium hiking trail connects the historic castle complex in the center of Freudenburg with varied landscapes, many views, sandstone cliffs and the "Eiderberg" nature reserve. The 12 km long hiking trail is named after King John the Blind of Bohemia, Count of Luxembourg, who built a castle in Freudenburg in the 14th century. The start and end point of this varied hike is the old city wall in the historic center of Freudenburg. From the village, the path continues through a varied landscape with many viewpoints and far-reaching views to Luxembourg and France. Other highlights along the way are the castle complex, which is enthroned on a mighty sandstone cliff, and the Leukbach valley with several small cascading "waterfalls" and historic mills. In the "Kollesleuker Schweiz" red sandstone rocks with diverse shapes and colors rise steeply. Nature lovers can enjoy rare orchids on the 440 meter high "Eiderberg", which is a nature reserve.
Little fling 😁 at Freudenburg. King Johann Round. The tour is varied and also a bit crisp.
A nice tour that is worth doing. There is something from everyone. I liked it very much and I was lucky with the weather today too 👌😀. What more could you want 😉. I wish everyone a nice evening and best regards, Florina 😊 🙋♀️
Today we hiked the Seitensprung König-Johann-Runde with the hiking group. Start and finish was in Freudenburg. A very varied round including Ewigbachtälchen, which was, as always, very beautiful. Greetings and have a nice evening 🙋♂️😊
Start and finish is the old city wall in the historic center of Freudenburg. Freudenburg is a municipality in the district of Trier-Saarburg in Rhineland-Palatinate. It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde of Saarburg-Kell. The 12-kilometer-long premium hiking trail is named after King John the Blind of Bohemia, Count of Luxembourg, who built a castle in Freudenburg in the 14th century. A beautiful and very varied round around Freudenburg with great vantage points and views of Luxembourg and France. Another highlight is the Leukbachtal with several small "waterfalls". In the "Kollesleuker Schweiz" multicolored sandstone rocks rise up in a variety of shapes and colors. We find the "Eiderberg" particularly beautiful, which is under nature protection and can currently enjoy very beautiful and rare orchids. Also this time we hiked the round the wrong way around because we find it more pleasant from the incline. The path is well maintained, very well signposted with many rest stops. Would recommend the trail for anyone. Have a nice Sunday evening and a great new week 🌞🍀🌞🍀
Today was the 175th tour on our Komoot list. We have been recording our tours there since May 20, 2020. The 175th went to Freudenburg for the *Moselsteig Seitensprung König-Johann-Runde* in wonderful weather and with a great group of hikers.
