Moena to Alpe Lusia Loop

Mountain biking

With this tour we want to lead you to discover Alpe Lusia and the pass of the same name, a crossroads of summer excursions and comings and goings of skiers in winter. Get ready to warm up your legs: in the first stretch from Moena to Alpe Lusia alone, this route has a difference in altitude of 1,000 metres, facing the arduous climb of Le Cune (which however you can avoid by using the cable car from Ronchi).

From the center of Moena, go up Strada de Longiarif, which soon becomes a dirt road until it rejoins the state road of the San Pellegrino pass, taking the well-trodden forest road that gains altitude, with a constant slope, to the La Rezila refuge. After the intermediate station of the cable car and the Chalet Valbona, the route climbs up with very significant differences in altitude, up to Le Cune, at 2,000 meters above sea level.

Then comes the moment of the descent, near Passo Lusia and the refuge of the same name, with peaks of almost 32%. The forest road you travel is enchanting, and after the La Rezila refuge, prepare to go up briefly until you overlook the Colvere pastures and its trenches, a control point on the Italian front during the Great War.

On this forest road which also immerses itself in the woods, long flat or slightly downhill stretches are interspersed with three rather steep ramps. After the bridge, the departure station of the Lusia cable car, Ronchi and the town of Someda, you return to the town with indelible memories of the splendid route undertaken.

To reach Moena you can take advantage of Trentino Trasporti and SAD public transport, or park your car in one of the car parks available in the town.

Moena is also called "the fairy of the Dolomites". This charming village of almost 3,000 inhabitants is located on the border between Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa. The town is crossed by a cycle path.
