Seekaralm

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Seekaralm is primarily used for agriculture, secondarily it serves as a place to stop for refreshments. You can get cheese or bacon bread and fresh milk here. With the magnificent view, it tastes twice as good.

Achenkirch 916m Seekaralm 1500m Seekarspitze 2053m Seebergspitze 2085m Parking €5 all day (May 25) ..a challenging ridge hike on the Karwendel side of Lake Achensee with magnificent views of Lake Achensee and the surrounding mountains. At times, it's like being in a fairytale 😅 It's quite steep in places, with many T3 sections above the tree line and also T3+ sections on the ridge. The Seekaralm could be described as an insider tip. You just come across the innkeeper, cozy, quaint, and incredibly cozy, and it suddenly appears when your thirst for a perfectly chilled shandy is at its greatest. By the way, the dumplings are small but delicious. Great loop with, in my humble opinion, the best view of Lake Achensee 🤗

Because of the weather, I headed east today. That was a good decision. And the timing for the brilliant morning sky was perfect. There's still a good amount of snow on the route. But since I started early, the snow was firm. It was manageable with crampons. Only near the summit would the ice axes I also had with me have been the better choice. Besides, the actual path was so corniced just before the summit that I had to find an alternative. A little descent and traverse, and then I was back on the summit ridge. The traverse was also quite doable.

We started in Achenkirch and didn't follow the direct signposted path to the Seekarspitze at the beginning, so we had to cross a stream that still had a lot of water - we could have saved ourselves the wet feet 😊. The climb up to the Seekaralm wasn't demanding. After a snack, we were ready for the next climb with another 550 meters of altitude to the summit. For the descent, you don't need to take the ascent path, but walk from the summit over the connecting ridge towards the Seebergspitze to the Alm junction. When the fog cleared, we were able to enjoy a magnificent view - what a panorama! You can't capture the unique impressions in a picture, but take a look yourself... This was a wonderfully varied and impressive tour that I can recommend to anyone who is fit, has a head for heights and is sure-footed. Top tour🔝

Ridge walk between heaven and Lake Achensee The tour starts at the hiking car park in Achenkirch and initially leads steadily uphill through shady forests. The final stage before the summit leads steeply and exposed over large scree fields. Once at the top, a breathtaking view of the turquoise-blue Lake Achensee opens up – a true postcard view. The following ridge path to the Seebergspitze is spectacular: airy, panoramic, and easily mastered with a little surefootedness. Enchanted forest paths and sun-drenched clearings lead you leisurely back to the valley – an all-round worthwhile adventure for experienced hikers with a sense of nature and a broad perspective. IMPORTANT: Absolute surefootedness, a head for heights, and good physical fitness are essential for this tour – the ridge is exposed in places and requires concentration and experience in alpine terrain.

The starting point is a hiking car park in Achenkirch. The day ticket costs 5 euros. For some sections of the tour, alpine experience, surefootedness and a head for heights are an advantage, this applies to the ridge crossing and the ascent to the Seebergspitze. It is never technically difficult, but in places it is a little airy and exposed. You will be rewarded with a great 360-degree panorama. 🙂

I was so looking forward to the tour with my boys. 😊 And because the weather was so nice, we didn't want to miss the two peaks with wonderful views either. As a lowland Tyrolean, it was real enough for me in the end. 😉 With a lot of great impressions in our heads and heavy legs, we then went back to the accommodation from the Achensee wall car park.

A wonderful day trip that requires a good level of fitness and surefootedness. We were able to comfortably sit out the heavy rain shower at the Seekaralm.
