From Dresden along the right bank of the Elbe to Cosewig, then inland to Moritzburg Castle. The route through Cosewig along the main road is disastrous; you'd better find back roads. Further on, however, the forest path is mostly manageable, except for some gravel. What idiot actually comes up with the idea of graveling bike paths everywhere? The castle is picturesquely situated in the lake; no wonder it's a frequently used film set. The route back through less-used forest areas, partly along an access road to Dresden, annoying. Then, to make up for it, a long stretch through the Dresden Heath, which is actually a forest. Back on the banks of the Elbe, the beer, wine, and food at Wasaplatz are delicious.
Today I went on a bike ride, starting through the Priesnitzgrund. On through Klotzsche, then a little way parallel to the road to Globalfoundries, and then over towards Boxdorf. There I made a quick stop at the campsite with the Frosch Café. Then I continued through the forest to Moritzburg. Here I also had a quick break at Café Kuhnath, and then continued via the stud farm and past the castle. There were, of course, lots of people there today—mostly confirmations and weddings. The ride continued on good bike paths via Auer to Coswig, and from there I passed Alt Kötzschenbroda, Altkaditz, Altübigau, and the new Hafencity back to Dresden's Neustadt on the Elbe. A lovely tour.
