Hiking
The HochAlbPfade are three premium hiking trails around Meßstetten on the Swabian Jura, all of which offer you a special kind of hiking experience. But convince yourself in the beautiful forests and typical juniper heaths, between scenic hilltops and manageable valleys.
Today we take you on the Hossinger Hochalb. The approximately 15-kilometer tour runs along the beautiful Albtrauf and thus secures you some breathtaking views. But one thing at a time. You start your hike at the hiking parking lot at the foot of the Heimberg and thus right in the middle of nature. Without beating around the bush, you head straight for the Trauf. You walk along it to the Gräbelesberg. From here you have a panoramic view that extends west over the Albvorland to the Black Forest and east to the Filder plain near Stuttgart. You can also discover the karst cave from Celtic times up here.
Then it's off again – first along an edge from which you can look down on Hossingen to the east, then up to a summit. That of the 974-meter-high Baienberg, to be precise. If you feel like a short break after the climb, you can make yourself comfortable on the scenic bench. You continue over a forest path, the small Michelfeld, and wide meadows. Sooner or later you will pass another rest area with loungers and a so-called Vesperinsel (snack island). You enter the small wood called Fuchsloch, from which you can take a short detour to Burg Hossingen. The historic defensive structure was built in the twelfth century. Thanks to the Thirty Years' War, not much is left of it. However, its location, the footbridge that replaces the former drawbridge, and the information boards allow you to well imagine the time.
Whether you decide for or against visiting the castle, the further path leads you along the outskirts of Hossingen and past the Hossinger Leiter, a spectacular path for which you should also plan a detour. Then it's time to climb one last time. Via the Känzele you reach the parking lot at the Heimberg again.

As a change from always just the Black Forest, we hiked a bit zig zag on the Alb.
Start / Finish: Hiking car park Heimberg - Hossingen
From the Heimberg hikers' car park, the path leads to the Tribfelsen along the eaves and then in the direction of Gräbelesberg with a great view. There are other beautiful views, e.g. on the Baienberg and Spitzfelsen with a beautiful view of the Bära valley. Passing the "Hossinger Leiter" it then goes up to the Kübelhansfels and back to the starting point. On the round you always walk through imposing flower meadows, which I have never seen to this extent.
Today we went to Hossingen. There we tackled the premium hiking trail “Hochalbpfad Hossinger Hochalb”. It was very quiet on the paths. The hikers we met were very talkative. The total time was therefore extended quite a bit😊. We started on the hiking trail 🅿 Heimberg. First we went north. There was one highlight after another along the path (Triebfelsen viewpoint, Gräbelesberg, Keller cave). To my surprise, we met the Komootler @Jörg und Philia - Die Alb-Vagabunden for the first time at the Baienberg viewpoint. I've been in contact with him for quite a long time. We had a very nice conversation. My thanks again for this. We continue south to the Spitzfelsen viewpoint. The views are always beautiful🤩. Now we pass the Michelfeld farm and riding stable🐐🐐🐎🐎. The next highlight should be Hossingen Castle. We were a little disappointed here😢. There is only an illustrated information board. There are no longer any remains of the wall to be seen. There's a bridge leading to the rock and that's it. The last section goes towards the Hossinger ladder. You just pass the barbecue hut and the exit point. The last view could be taken again from the Kübelhansfelsen before we ended today's tour at our starting point. Conclusion: Great tour, very nice paths, good signage, numerous highlights.
Today we took the HochAlbPfad Hossingen without the loop to Gräbelesberg, as we already know it well. Starting point is the Heimberg hiking car park. Across fields and on beautiful forest paths to the Baienberg rock with a great view of the valley. Continue to Spitzfelsen, along the Michelfeld horse farm and down to the former Hossingen castle ruins. Back up to the Lerchenbühl lookout point (panoramic view). Briefly stroll around the town and down to the Hossinger Leiter with a lovely barbecue area, shelter and lots of rocks. Up through the forest via steps and back to the car park. Very lonely hike. Today (Saturday, in the best weather) we didn't see a single other hiker except at the Hossinger Leiter.
A very nice tour around Hossingen at an ideal hiking temperature. When we started in the morning we had the first autumn fog and therefore no view of the valley. The fog soon disappeared, a light drizzle set in for a short time but then the sun came out 🌞😊. An ideal day with Rainer and Johann, it was beautiful 🥾🥾🥾
Hello dear like-minded people! the weather forecast was that the sun was shining on the mountains! 😎 So I dared today and went to the Hossinger Alb to do the HochAlbPfad there. After more than an hour of driving, I thought that was probably not a good idea, as nothing was to be seen all around, everything in the high fog ... but that was deceptive😍. After several turns that led to the plateau, it was there! The sun! And the fog was deeper, that was awesome .... and there was still a lot of snow .... oooh how nice that was .... but also brrrrrrkold ... so quickly put on the Zoya's cap and coat and off we went! After about 1 km you climb the first height and you are right on the Albtrauf. Because of the fog we couldn't see anything below us ... it was perfect for my gasping ... there was nothing like that today. So a fog like this can also be helpful😂. But of course it was a shame because you couldn't see anything .... but the sun and the great trees and the absolutely mega megaaaa megaaa blue sky made up for it. Then it goes to the Gräbelesberg and once around him ... again and again dream spots for dream views ... but that was not granted to us today. The sunlight broke so beautifully again and again in the trees and on the paths ... the light haze in addition ... that was magical😍☺️. After a while there is a sporty ascent through the forest. Zoya stands there like a one ... which you couldn't say about me ... it took me a little longer, the paths are partly muddy and a bit frozen ... I had to be careful not to slip ... at that point completely stupid, because then I would probably have had to start all over again, because I would have slipped down, so to speak😂😂. You then get to the Baienberg, where there is a great little view towards Plettenberg. Then it got a bit uncomfortable, because the snow on the paths was very icy and it was difficult to walk. Zoya also didn't have her elegant walk anymore and wanted to throw herself into the snow now and then ... which didn't work ... because frozen ... her arms ☺️. Then you come through the small Michelfeld, which is known for its riding stables ... there were also a lot of horses on the pasture and watched us as we then at the big tractor and the associated shredder - which chopped up the felled spruce! That was a huge noise! But ... it smelled incredibly good ... of spruce and pine and the scents they release from their bark ... almost ethereal ... I had to take a few deep breaths! That was sooooo guuuuut.🌳🌲 Then it's across the street - I had to take a picture, I was standing in the middle of the main street and there was no car😂😂. Splendid. Then it goes up a little over meadows and then we took a short break ... after that it was never so fun, because unfortunately we had to trudge through the high icy snow and then all the way downhill ..... the forest is called " Foxhole ". Then you come to the castle, a historical fortification, unfortunately it was destroyed in the Thirty Years War. Today I was in the shade and it was bitterly cold. From there you have to go up to Hossingen on an icy beaten path ... that was very, very exhausting for me and Zoya. Huiuiuiui .... but above we were at least blessed with the sun again. But what was that? Then the fog crept in ... and we had to go there ... to the Hossingen ladder .... but then I felt a bit queasy ... we didn't want to crash somehow😍. So we took a short shortcut and then landed back at the parking lot via Heimberg. I will definitely do this tour again, maybe in spring, because orchids and rare flowers should also bloom there I send you my best regards and I wish you a nice evening 🙏🏻☘️🙋♀️🥰🐾
