This walk on the edge of Cagliari offers unexpected views of hidden coves such as Cala Fighera and, above all, the white expanse of Poetto beach. The Devil's Saddle, with its limestone relief, is slippery in case of rain. During the summer, parking can be difficult, but from the center of Cagliari you can get to Calamosca by public transport.
From the Calamosca car park, the route begins, marked by a notice board and a wooden fence. The path climbs rapidly and soon you find yourself faced with a magnificent panorama of Cala Fighera. Continuing, the path follows a rounded ridge and joins the main path, leading you to the first panoramic point on Poetto beach.
From here, the route follows the edge of the cliffs, reaching a refreshment point and then the summit cross, with another splendid panorama of the Sella del Diavolo. From the cross, you can admire the ruins of the 3rd century BC Punic temple of Astarte. and the remains of the ancient 11th century church of Sant'Elia.
Continue on the path which initially remains at altitude and then descends towards the first view of the beaches. From here, resume the return route, avoiding the detour to Cala Fighera.
