Of course, the tour was twice as long (there and back), but Komoot didn't want to play along😌. Anyone who likes moor is in good hands here; the detours to the left and right of the main path are particularly worthwhile, the middle section is a bit boring, but then you can walk a little faster.
The importance of the moors for the climate... here is another nature trail, very close to the Steinhuder Meer. After the peat has been removed, the area is now being wetted again so that peat moss can settle and the moor continues to bind CO2. Mining is still going on in the area in the direction of Neustadt, but at the same time it is being rewetted. The nature trail was created in 2021 and should be walked in connection with the nature park house in Mardorf.
