The Steinerne Agnes has the seal of approval "Bavaria's most beautiful geotopes" and is one of the most popular photo motifs around Berchtesgaden. Start at the Steinerne Agnes hiking car park, follow the forest path, then the narrow hiking path meanders quickly up through light deciduous forest. There you can admire the bizarre karst landscape. The descent is to Winkl and offers some beautiful views. There are no rest stops on the way, so pack a snack.
The start was at the free parking lot for hikers in Hallthurm - then along the panorama trail to the Steinerne Agnes junction.... It was 2.5 hours of continuous uphill climbing, with great views of the snow-covered Hochkalter and its "Kumpanen" again and again. Once at the top, there was a long rest at the Agnes, and then we descended for 3 hours with a view of the sleeping witch. This was a bit shaky, but what mutt, dat mutt. P. S. According to legend, the stone Agnes Runde was a dairymaid who made a pact with the devil and killed her child. God's punishment followed immediately by turning them to stone.
Visiting the stone Agnes 😀 🌞 Free 🅿️ View over the sea of clouds. Ascension with several steps... At the Rotofensattel, the Rotofen peaks would be close for a detour😉 Down towards Winkl Christmas roses peak out 🤩 Continue on the Panoramaweg directly to the parking lot. Knee-friendly way to go the tour in this direction - that's what I would call it. Agnes round path 6
This tour was not so rocking for me, because it is almost exclusively steeply up through the forest. Ok, the stone Agenes is a nice destination, but the Rotofensattel is in the forest with no view. If you want to get to the summit, you have to scramble quite a bit on an unsecured path, I was too unsure. From the saddle it goes steeply downhill again.
The parking lot is 200m further than indicated.
Last tour in the Lattengebirge for now... Nice tour on narrow paths. Unfortunately I didn't dare go any further at the Steinerne Agnes, so we didn't have the famous view of the Agnes..... A second attempt will definitely follow
Today's plan was to visit St. Agnes, and since I don't particularly like walking down the mountain, I wanted to continue to the Predigtstuhl. However, after getting knee-deep in snow several times and the path becoming obscure, the only option left was to descend on foot.
Some mountains and rock formations have the most unusual stories. According to the legends, Agnes, a dairymaid, let herself be seduced by the devil into killing her illegitimate child, which is why God turned her to stone. This rock was on our program today. We started the hike to Steinerne Agnes at the free hiking car park, from which we first went uphill through the forest. After a short break at the rock formation - a dairymaid with a hat can only be imagined here with a lot of imagination - we then continued the tour to the Karlkopf, from which you have a wonderful view of the Berchtesgaden mountains and towards Bad Reichenhall and in has Lake Chiemsee in the distance - the perfect place to enjoy the day! 🏔🥾❤️
