Hiking
The Roche à Sept Heures loop offers a unique panorama of one of the most spectacular meanders in France. This six-kilometer hike is guaranteed to amaze you! We recommend wearing suitable footwear before setting out on the route.
Starting from Monthermé, a small town nestled at the bottom of the Meuse Valley, the trail climbs a beautiful single track through the vegetation to reach Roche à Sept Heures. This rocky spur overlooks the Meuse and the village of Monthermé.
The route continues along the ridge path, intermittently revealing sweeping panoramas. A few kilometers further, "La Longue Roche," the other striking viewpoint of the meander appears. This impressive view never tires. Take the opportunity to stop and have a picnic while admiring this natural spectacle.
The end of the trail winds downhill to reach the banks of the Meuse and the village. Let yourself be carried away by the unique atmosphere of this place, stroll along the water or stop at the café “Le Laval Dieu” for a drink on the terrace.

We climb up a pleasant forest path to rocks and viewpoints above Monthermé. A beautiful circuit, but you wish the Club Vosgien had joined. Although the circuit is expressly recommended, there are hardly any signs. Without Komoot we would have walked past one or two viewpoints. The intended path was particularly hard to find at the Roche de Sept Heures.
Beautiful circuit with a long, steady, rustic climb, which is rewarded with a great high-altitude trail with wonderful views of Monthermé and the Meuse loop.
This round trip over the hills of Monthermé is a bit challenging due to the altitude, but it is worth every drop of sweat - you are rewarded with a stunning view of the valley with the loop of the Meuse - great! 👍 🥾🍄🍁🌳⛰️
