Hiking
The Risdoux loop runs through the thickets of the Ardennes plateau and offers a breathtaking view of the Meuse below from the Roche à Fépin viewpoint. It then leads into the closed Risdoux valley. A rich and varied hike, close to the water.
The route begins and ends in Hargnies. This small village located in a clearing in the Ardennes forest reveals some beautiful Haybes arkose stones and is known for its gastronomy.
The first part of the route crosses the copses to the south of the village to reach a very beautiful viewpoint over the Meuse. La Roche à Fépin opens up a wide panorama of the Meuse valley. It’s time to take out the picnic and enjoy the landscape.
The route then plunges into the deep Risdoux valley. The atmosphere of the place becomes more humid and we are lulled by the sound of the watercourse. Risdoux is home to a number of threatened plant and animal species (bloody locust, trientalia, etc.). The trails are part of the European Forest Leisure Area (ELFE) and the information terminals allow you to learn about Ardennes culture. The ruins of the Limbourg mill mark the way back to the village.
