Highlight • Waterfall

From the spacious wooden bridge you have a beautiful view of the Ammer. Now and then you even see a few paddlers. The Soyermühle is privately owned, but simply nice to look at.

Circular hike from Bad Bayersoien to the Ammer River with my dog Thimmy Start & Finish: Ludwigstrasse parking lot, Bad Bayersoien Duration: approx. 3.5 hours Length: 11.8 km Difficulty: Medium Elevation gain: approx. 250 m Tour description: The tour begins from the Ludwigstrasse parking lot in Bad Bayersoien on an easily accessible path towards the Ammer River. The route initially leads through gentle meadows before entering a forest. The atmosphere here can be magical, especially in the morning – with wisps of mist drifting over the fields and birdsong accompanying you. After about 3 km, you'll reach the Soier Mill, a picturesque place with a historic flair. You should definitely marvel at the mossy waterfalls here – a small, hidden natural paradise. The cascading waterfalls trickle over moss-covered rocks, lending the scenery an almost mystical atmosphere. A short break here is worthwhile before continuing. From the Soier Mill, the trail follows an idyllic path along the Ammer River to the Kammerl power plant. The surrounding area is characterized by wild rivers, impressive rock formations, and lush greenery. Shortly after the power plant, you'll find an idyllic rest area with a great view—perfect for a breather with Thimmy. Here you can let your gaze wander over the valley and enjoy the peace and quiet. The trail continues along gently rising paths to a beautiful wild meadow with panoramic views. The open area offers an impressive panorama of the Ammergau foothills and is a great place for some beautiful photos with your Weimaraner. The return route takes you in a wide loop with occasional glimpses of Bad Bayersoien back to the starting point. You'll enjoy a magnificent view of Bad Bayersoien, especially towards the end of the tour, before arriving back at the Ludwigstraße parking lot after 3.5 hours. Tour Highlights: ✅ Mossy waterfalls at the Soier Mill ✅ Idyllic rest areas with great views ✅ Wild meadow with panoramic views ✅ Impressive nature along the Ammer River ✅ Beautiful views of Bad Bayersoien Tips: - Sturdy shoes are recommended, as some sections can be rooty or rocky. - Bring a leash for Thimmy – some sections require consideration for wildlife. - Bring water for you and your dog, especially in summer. - Don't forget your camera – there are numerous photo spots! Have fun and enjoy the hike! 🏞🐾

A very varied tour on great paths and trails with an unplanned tour through the Kammerl hydroelectric power plant. The Scheibum (rock gorge of the Ammer River) is absolutely worth seeing.

Translated by Google

Not recommended at this time, as large sections are still completely iced over.

We start our hike in Bad Bayersoien near Ludwigstrasse 1. The temperatures for this hike are okay. but we still work up a sweat. It goes up and down all the time. You should be in shape and surefooted. It goes past the Soier mill. Sometimes the paths are wide and gravel, but there is also a lot going through the forest, along root paths. The veil falls were locked. We take a look at the Scheibum, the breakthrough in the rock of the Ammer. The narrow path around the rock was very washed out and with gaps, so we didn't want to walk there. We took our lunch in the Ascheleschwaig tavern. You can eat well there. The way back is via a beautiful vantage point above Bad Bayersoien. We enjoy the beautiful view of the surroundings. And a short time later we have reached the starting point again. Sometimes the hiking markings were not so good at important points. Better marking with the number 23 for Große Ammerrunde would be desirable.

A super beautiful hike. Totally varied, and we didn't meet many people along the way. It was quite strenuous for us, but definitely worth it.

Very nice and varied route. It is challenging but always has great views. Lots of roots and stairs and if it has rained beforehand then it is very muddy and slippery, so it is better to go when the weather is nice. Since you walk a lot in the shade it is ideal for hot days.

The Ammer Gorge! In many sections, nature is still wild, sometimes unpredictable, and untouched, and can be explored on varied trails. Parts of it are also part of the Ammergau Meditation Trail! Today, I headed northwest from the 🅿️ Trathweg (€5 day ticket) to descend into the gorge at the Soier Mill. My main goal was the Schleier Falls, which I've visited several times before. I've never experienced as much water in the Ammer as I did today. The paths lead left behind the bridge over the Ammer at the Soier Mill, climbing ever higher and then along the gorge with magnificent views. The sometimes very steep ascents and descents are narrow, rooty paths that currently require extreme caution. They are very slippery. The same applies to the planked sections and the steps that have eroded and slipped away. There are many landslides, fallen trees that have diverted the path, and occasionally waterways must be crossed because the original path is no longer passable. Absolute surefootedness and a bit of a sense of direction are very helpful at this time. From the moment I crossed the bridge at the Soier Mill, the hike was mine alone 🤩. I was also able to enjoy this natural wonder alone at the Schleier Falls. I continued towards the Kammerl power station and via Aublick back to Bad Bayersoien. I also recommend this tour in combination with a walk around Lake Soier (I skipped it today 😉) P.S. Sorry for the photo spam 🫣
