Gravel riding

The interior of the province of Valencia is full of mountains. The Sierra de los Caroches is located almost in Castilla-La Mancha, in the heart of the Canal de Navarrés region, its steep limestone massifs are the ideal place for the water to play with the soft terrain and carve spectacular gorges of turquoise pools.

This Route is circular from Quesa, an important rural town surrounded by ideal swimming areas in summer that you can reach by private vehicle. The path ascends to the Caroche peak, while immersing you in a charming Mediterranean mountain landscape dotted with plots of olive trees, almond trees and some fruit trees, crowned by imposing calcareous cliffs.

The route is physically demanding and during the day you do not pass through any town, so we recommend that you bring enough water and food and some spare parts. The technical section is not difficult, so a gravel bike is more than enough to ride the slopes and enjoy the views. Given the high temperature contrast between winter and summer, we advise you to do this adventure in spring or autumn, both seasons offer the best of the territory and, on warm days, some swimming opportunities.

The last kilometers of the ascent to the Caroig peak on the south face of the mountain are very technical due to the loose stone on the path. However, the scenery you go through and the views you get are second to none.

An incredible site for its views and the arrival road to it. Going up Teresa de Cofrentes or Jalance, the route is amazing, with stretches of demanding slope but the views are more than rewarding. It is a round trip road so on the way back you will have to have your brakes ready ;)
