Cycling

This round trip is recommended to you by a local handbike enthusiast. It takes you past the airport to the impressive Rhine Falls, with a lively up and down. In some places you are on gravel that is easy to ride on. It starts at Bassersdorf train station, which has wheelchair parking spaces and barrier-free toilets. From here you travel to Kloten and past Zurich Airport to Bülach.

You then roll along the Glatt to the Rhine. At the Eglisau power station you cross the river and thus also the border to Germany. On the way to Neuhausen to the Rhine Falls you regularly change national territory. Once you arrive at the Rhine Falls quay in Neuhausen, you can marvel at the enormous masses of water of the Rhine Falls.

After a short but steep climb you then cross the Rhine above the Rhine Falls and in Laufen-Uhwiesen you have another chance to take a look at the impressive waterfall before you set off on the way back. This takes you via Andelfingen and Winterthur back to the train station in Bassersdorf.

The Eglisau power station is an old hydroelectric power station with a boat lock. The power of the water is very noticeable here. The power station can also be visited in groups on request. Quiet border crossing, also suitable for walks to Switzerland or Germany.

Rhine Falls and Laufen Castle

Highlight • Waterfall

The breathtaking force of nature is impressive. I somehow pictured the Rhine in Western Europe, flowing into its riverbed and radiating energy, just like here at the Rhine Falls. What would Europe be without Father Rhine? And of course, there are such wonderful stretches for us cyclists that we all enjoy so much.
