We started with Heiko at Neuhaus Castle 🏰, into the Senne through blooming heath. Past the local history center in Bentlage with old buildings 🏘️ to the next station Emsquelle. Continue past the Hermannsdenkmal within sight, towards Externsteine ⛰️ then always downhill, to Bad Lippspringe and to the Lippequelle. From there back towards Paderborn, Neuhaus Castle. A great cycle path 🚲 lots of nature, heath, pine forests, beech forests, and beautiful views. And despite the altitude, hardly any battery was used.
A bike ride for six people was planned for this Saturday. Our meeting point was the Augustdorf Forest Cemetery, a good 100 kilometers from home. We first rode the European Cycle Route R1 and after about 6 kilometers switched to the Senne Cycle Route. Along the way, we could see the Hermann Monument in the distance. After a few meters of elevation gain, we reached the Externsteine, which brought back memories of our school days. We decided not to climb it; it looks impressive even from below. The route then continued mostly downhill along the European Cycle Route R1 and the Römer-Lippe Route to Bad Lippspringe. We were halfway through the route, so we looked for a pizzeria. We should have left right after the drinks; the staff were a disaster (I've never experienced anything so unfriendly), but we were hungry and stayed. The food was okay, but I won't go there again. The journey continued via Marienloh to Neuhaus Castle, where we were greeted by brass bands and marching bands. It must have been a shooting festival or something similar. Neuhaus Castle – located in the Paderborn district of the same name – is an impressive example of the early Weser Renaissance. Numerous events take place around the moated castle with its reconstructed Baroque garden and the castle and meadow park; today, it also houses a school center. That was the cultural part. We continued along the spring-to-spring route, past a prayer house, to Hövelhof, and along the Teuto Rail and Cycle Route through the Moosheide to the source of the Ems. The last few kilometers took us through Stukenbrock Senne and along the European Cycle Route R1 back to Augustdorf, where we made a detour to the local ice cream parlor 🍨. A wonderful bike tour was over, and after stowing the bikes in the car, we headed home.
A varied route, from good cycle paths along major roads to gravel tracks in the forest.
Today I drove to Schloss Neuhaus Paderborn. From there I went on the Senneradweg. I drove through the Teutoburg Forest. Visited the external stones and the Emsquellen
It started at the elementary school in queues. The entrance was a bit bumpy, hardly any signs to be found and no tour saved by Komoot. Incidentally, the signs leave a lot to be desired on the entire circuit 👎😔 If you ask for directions, the answer is usually: no idea 🤔 Passed through numerous weekly markets up to Neuhaus Castle, maybe should have had a "drink, after that it was ebb and food" Heidschnucken were not to be seen, will have to come back again. In Augustdorf I wanted to fortify myself in front of Hermann, but I couldn't find a bakery, so a mobile butcher truck had to help out with Viennese and scrambled egg rolls, delicious 😋 It was not clear to me that Hermann does not belong to the tour, I was not angry with the now gay 28 ' So it went up to the stones, as always great te didn't know that you could come in from behind without coal! Then it went back to the start through beautiful forest paths. All in all a nice tour,
Unfortunately, this tour is not suitable for racing bikes. Sections with pebbles and forest floor. The Sennerad logo was missing in places 🙈 which was great if you want to follow signs. It's better to download the tour and go to Komoot. It was worth a try 😁😁. Other than that, it was a nice tour. I took Hermann with me.
It was a lovely ride in the sunshine 🌞. Only one of the wild horses was visible. I could still make out a few in the forest based on their movements.
