Hiking
Embark on an immersion towards the end of the Neolithic period by discovering the land of menhirs. This short walk of just over five kilometers takes you through the Cham des Bondons, where nearly 200 menhirs stand, one of the most important megalithic sites in France.
You begin the walk by contemplating the “Stone of the three parishes”, a menhir which marks the meeting point of three municipalities. Among the dolmens that follow one another, you will discover the Combes dolmen. This archaeological site reveals the funerary practices of ancient societies.
The hike continues downhill to the hamlet of Combettes. The loop closes at the end of a gravel climb, dotted with archaeological sites which are worth a stop to observe the Cévennes setting and the panorama of the Causses.

Short tour through the menhirs of Les Bondons. You start at the car park on the D35 and from there you have a great view over the sometimes oddly shaped mountains of the plateau and down into the Gorges du Tarn. After ten minutes you come to the first menhirs, soon more follow along the path and in the meadows around it. Why they were originally set up is not known. Some look like what you would expect as an Asterix reader, others are more like gravestones. A beautiful path with a wide view up to the stream down in the valley, the climb on the forest path through the forest is then less exciting and interest in the scattered menhirs has already waned...
