Hiking
Around the striking rock faces of the Kanisfluh, the "landmark of the Bregenzerwald," you'll share the view with leaping ibexes. The final section to the summit leads over a narrow meadow ridge, requiring surefootedness and a head for heights.
To avoid the first 700 meters of elevation gain, take the cable car from Mellau up to the Roßstelle mountain station. First, you'll enjoy a leisurely hike to the beautiful Alpe Kanis, picturesquely crisscrossed by streams. Afterward, the path becomes narrower and steeper.
You'll continue along the slope to the Hehlesattel, from where you'll ascend to the summit of the Kanisfluh. With a bit of luck, you'll catch a glimpse of the acrobatic climbing ibexes. At the summit cross, you'll enjoy a sweeping view all the way to Lake Constance and the mountains of the Bregenzerwald. The return journey can be made either along the same route or via the Wurzachalpe, which invites you to stop for a leisurely rest.

Beautiful mountain with a view and wonderful flower meadows. Yellow gentian as far as the eye can see. Large population of Turk's cap lilies. You could take photos of flowers all the time. Nice mountain pasture to stop off at. Finish in Tettnang in a cozy cider broom. Thanks Wolfgang for this suggestion.
The Kanisfluh, the most climbed mountain in the Bregenz Forest. Every local is "obliged" to climb the Kanisfluh once in a lifetime. Apparently this also applies to all tourists. We too got in line and set off. The tour is not demanding, but you should be in good physical condition. You are never alone at the summit.
This hike starting from the Mellaubahn mountain station to the Kanisfluh ⛰ at an altitude of 2044 metres. One of the most striking mountains and a landmark of the Bregenzerwald. The view of this mighty mountain range alone is impressive and you can see as far as Lake Constance. The tour starts comfortably up to the Kanisfluh junction on the left, then it goes up steeply over narrow paths. You should manage your energy well until you get to the top of the mountain, the last ascent is very steep. A great experience to have climbed the home mountain 🥾🥾🇦🇹⛰.
Today the sun finally came out and we went up the mountain. We took the Mellaubahn up and then had a really great hike to the summit. At the beginning the paths were very wide and gently ascending, but these became narrower and steeper as we went up. At the top we were greeted by a strong wind and a wonderful 360° view. We were able to admire Lake Constance and the glaciers of the Alps. On the way back we stopped off and had another great mountain panorama.
The must for every mountain lover / hiker: climbing the Kanisfluh, more precisely the Holenke at 2044 m. We too did this with many others in bright sunshine. As the saying goes: "You are never alone on the Kanisfluh!" A crisp ascent, but at the summit cross you will be rewarded with a spectacular view!
Yes, a really nice tour. Let's see where it's going tomorrow
Thank you @KISS - with the sun 🌞 that you brought with you from the Allgäu, this mountain tour 🏔 to Kanisfluh was simply incredibly beautiful 🥰 Such a great Alpine panorama with views all the way to Lake Constance 🏞 and Säntis 🏔 were possible today. The “Hohe Schock” in particular was impressive, at the foot of which we had a little picnic 😋until Hubert returned from the “Hehle” ridge. We managed the (sometimes steep) climb to Kanisfluh 🏔 with a few breaks for a breather 😉 and were rewarded with a 360° panoramic view at the summit ✝️. Of course the descent wasn't without its problems, but the EKS lured us to the Alpe Wurzach, where we not only quenched our thirst 🍻🤣 We particularly liked the almost kitschy blue sky, illuminated in the late afternoon sunlight 🌞, covered in fluffy clouds. A few goats 🐐 that were lying around freely wanted to get some petting before they went back down to the valley around 🕓 with the Mellau gondola lift 🚠. Thank you @KISS and Flip 🐕 for this great mountain day🥰
Wonderful mountain hike on Wed. 18.07.24 to the Holenke summit (2044m) of the striking Kanisfluh mountain massif in the Bregenzerwald with fellow pensioner Norbert M. from the Roßstelle mountain station of the Mellau cable car. Through the green Alptal with the babbling Alpbach, we went past the Alpe Kanis up to the Hählesattel with the rock tower Stoß on the left. The Holenke summit was reached at twelve o'clock sharp, today with many other mountain hikers, including school classes on a mountain tour. A great mountain with a view! Plus the flower meadows with yellow gentian and places with Turk's cap lilies. There were no more ibexes to be seen, they have now moved to the north steep face above Mellau. The descent was at the Alpe Wurzach. On the farm track, partly along the Alpbach, we went back to the Roßstelle and with the Mellaubahn down into the valley (uphill and downhill ride for pensioners €16.90😊). We did the final EKS at the Mostbesen🍶🍕 Oßwald in Tettnang-Zimmerberg. Thank you🙏🏼 @Norbert M. for your great, expert⚘️🌼🌺⛰️ accompaniment🤗 and the time-consuming exertion of the long journey there and back across the Alb from Zoller👌 Here is his recording: https://www.komoot.de/tour/1718176912?ref=atd Editorially completed 06.08.24🙈
