1.5 Mile Resthouse via Bright Angel Trail – Grand Canyon National Park

Alongside the South Kaibab Trail, the Bright Angel Trail is one of the so-called corridor trails - both lead over the Colorado River and thus to the north side of the Grand Canyon. On this hike, however, you only go down a short distance, namely to the 1.5 Mile Resthouse. Over almost six kilometers, you can get an insight into the fascinating world of the huge canyon with impressive views.

You can park your car directly at the visitor center. The trailhead to the Bright Angel Trail is just around the corner. Alternatively, you can take the Grand Canyon Shuttle on the blue line to get here. You wind your way down into the canyon over serpentines that sometimes curve widely and then become increasingly narrow. In between, you even go through a small tunnel that was carved into the rock.

Along the Bright Angel Trail, you can look deep into the side canyon through which the path winds the entire way. The rock walls made of white, red and brownish rock rise majestically next to you. At the 1.5 Mile Resthouse you can take a break and catch your breath, because then you hike over 300 meters back up to the starting point.
